Sirius Backseat TV

Does anyone know if Sirius Backseat TV is still available in 2012? Sirius is clueless but told me it was. At first they told me it was only available on the Jeep Commander. When I told the CS rep that was 2010 info she transferred me to someone who had a bit of a clue. Also are all the Sirius modules the same? I see they are all the same price. Where is it located? Can the backseat tv be turned on with a Starscan tool? Are all the sirius antennas duel antennas? I assume it us under the plastic cover on the roof...if I'm wrong where is it. Does anyone think I will be able to add this to my 2012 JGC Overland? I have the factory RES.

Re: Sirius Backseat TV

Standrk,

I picked up my 2012 GC Overland Summit this weekend... I asked the dealer to show me how to use the Backseat TV and he had no clue what I was talking about! When I got home I called Sirius and they were asking for a EIN #, a different one from the one that runs the radio.. I could not find it! I went to the Jeep website and comparing the 2011 to 2012 Build it link it appears they excluded the Back seat TV option as it is not listed on the 2012!!! This really upset me as this was one of the main reasons I purchased the entertainment system!! I called the dealer today to have them contact the jeep rep to get an answer... If it is not installed is there a way to install it?

Re: Sirius Backseat TV

Please post when you find out. That exact question was asked during the SRT engineer chat and even they didn't know whether the WK2SRT8's rear entertainment system had it or not.

Re: Sirius Backseat TV

New member and 1st post here with 2012 Durango Crew (w/HEMI and 730N audio) on order and "scheduled for production". Received this from my dealer today...

"Upon further research, it appears that the Sirius Backseat TV has been discontinued on the 2012 models. Iím sorry that this option was not continued for the 2012 model year. I checked with our Parts department and Sirius TV has been discontinued through Chrysler Parts also because of lack of sales. I did call Sirius directly and they informed me that you can purchase the Sirius TV unit through them for the 2012 Durango."

Assume this is the case for all 2012 Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep vehicles.

Re: Sirius Backseat TV

Well, I won't bother with the rear DVD system now! Good info. There are much cooler aftermarket systems for less money.

Thanks for the info....saved $$$$. They should have held on to that feature.

Re: Sirius Backseat TV

I had the Sirius Backseat TV on My 11 JGC, it only came with three channels anyway, Nick, Disney and Cartoon network. I got a year free service but chose not to renew. They wanted $9 a month for three channels. The rear DVD is worth getting because it's is intergrated with the radio and steering wheel controls. I would not dismiis the rear DVD system just because they no longer offer Sirius Backseat TV.

Bought a sirius tv? Is it just the 3 kids channels? How hard was the install? For example is it another antenna as well as some unit that has to tap into the mygig?
