Sirius radio issues with 730N media center

I just purchased a 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland with a media center 730N. About 80% of the time when I go into the "travellink" sirius radio menu, the "Movies" and "Sports" icons are grayed out and can not be selected. 20-30% of the time when I go in they are not grayed out and are available for selection. It is always the Movies and Sports that are grayed, all other options are fine. Is anyone else having this problem. The dealership where I bought the car says that since it is Sirius related that they have no responsibility and they are absolutly no help at all in this matter.

Yes, I've seen this as well on my 730N. I'm guessing it has to do with updating the information from the satellite - not a malfunction of the radio. I've only had my vehicle a couple of weeks - so have yet to call Sirius on this. I wonder if its one of the 'moving' vs. 'non-moving' vehicle lockouts?

That was going to be my guess.

You should have access to movies and sports when the vehicle is stopped, but not when moving.

Sirius has been having trouble getting the Travel Link to work properly for over 4 months now.

it's a non moving option only. Sports is as well... Anything that involves scrolling and more time consuming is limited while in gear.

Re: Sirius radio issues with 730N media center

I am in the process of buying my 1st Jeep. My Honda Pilot has XM, which carries MLB. Seems that Sirius based radios from Chrysler and Ford cannot broadcast MLB games until the XM/MLB contract expires. So that may explain why some sports channels are blocked out. Also it can be because the channels are not being used for NFL, NCAA, NHL, etc at the time. The dealer did tell us that you can watch a DVD if the car is in park only.

Re: Sirius radio issues with 730N media center

I have the 430N and all the features of my Travel Link work when the vehicle is moving (Weather, Movies, etc). I do not know if or why the 730N would be any different, since it is a Sirius feature and not necessarily a function of the specific radio. I have noticed that sometimes some of the Travel Link features are "grayed out", but if I wait a few minutes they usually are working again. I figure it is just an updating or satellite view issue (I have more problems in downtown or heavily treed areas).

Yes, this is my experience as well. Moving - movies and sports disabled. Stopped - everything enabled

We're referring to the "travel link" option where you are able to scroll through scores, fuel prices, weather, movies, etc. Not the actual Sirius/Xm channels.

Re: Sirius radio issues with 730N media center

I have the 430N media center. My travel link works when the vehicle is moving. Once in a while, some services are temporarily greyed out - but when I check in a few minutes they are working again. Sometimes the weather feature says "updating" when you select it - but it usually is working again quickly. I would not pay a lot extra for the feature from Sirius, but I do use the Gasoline Price feature once in a while.

I am more disappointed in the inability to input new addresses while in motion. I keep my portable Garmin in the console to use (by my wife in the passenger seat) when we are traveling and don't want to pull over or off the freeway just to check on something.
