Sirius Satellite Radio

Question for everyone:

When your trial version of Sirius was up, did you start paying for it?

If so, which package did you choose?

I don't know how long the free trial version lasts, but I am still up in the air about whether or not to start paying for it when that time comes. I was in Alaska with my old Jeep and did not purchase Sirius when the trial version was up. The service up there for satellite radio was horrible!

Re: Sirius Satellite Radio

1 year from the in service date,
I believe. I didn't keep it, whatever tuner they switched to for the 2014s sounds like garbage. It was so much better in my old 2011.

Re: Sirius Satellite Radio

No, I did not renew the sat service. Horrible sound quality so I only ever listened to it twice and that was when I had a Bluetooth issue while moving down the road. I much prefer to listen to my own library of thousands of tunes that is on my iPhone. The only thing I ever used was the traffic piece but even that was not very satisfying...re routes on things too far ahead and very annoying.

Re: Sirius Satellite Radio

My subscription will soon be running out. I do like the music channels. The package is called XM mostly music which they advertise for $9.99 per month but after taxes and other fees it's comes out to $154.00 a year. I am going to wait to see if I can get a better deal just before it expires.

For the last four or 5 years I have been able to renew on the cars we have for around $85.00 a year, just "whine" and tell them it is "too expensive" and only once did they ever say no which made me have to call back 3 minutes later and start the process again. Call them BEFORE it runs out and tell them to send you a bill; i have read too many horror stories about people that have given them a credit card number! Good luck! Dave

That's funny, I was just talking with a friend of mine over the weekend who said a salesman at a dealer told his friend to request an invoice and write them a check. They won't like it at first, but if they want your money they'll do it.

I myself just ran out two weekends ago, did not renew. Agree, sound quality is much better with my iPod connected via USB, streaming over bluetooth, or even the FM radio (HD).

Just doesn't seem worth the money in my mind.

Nominate Re: Sirius Satellite Radio

I was told to let the free trial run its course until next year and that my new unit would be put back to my previous plan of $25 for 5 months. No credit card on file either... i too have heard horror stories about them billing people the day their contract expired for the standard monthly rate without notice.

The sound quality is a little worse than in my '08 WK, but not by much. Granted i use spotify now almost all the time when cruising around. I really only have Sirius for Stern and a whatever my wife listens to in her Altima.

Re: Sirius Satellite Radio

Just got off the phone with them today. I told them I was not going to renew my service on my 2002 Jeep, 2012 Jeep and my new 2014 Jeep which the trial date is up on 9/14/14. The guy never ask why nor did he act like he cared. I guess so many people have canceled there service and not renewed they have finally realized that there is no need to ask why anymore. The sound quality has gotten so poor this year that it is not worth what they want for it. I don't see how they can continue to lose customers and stay in business. iHeart radio is free and sounds much better.

Re: Sirius Satellite Radio

An even WORSE deal is the $19.99 a month Chrysler charges for UConnect.

I won't be renewing that service either. Very late 2014 buyers (after July 1st) and 2015 buyers now get those subscriptions free for 5 years now.

Re: Sirius Satellite Radio

I have had it since early April, used it early on but lately have not. I will not be renewing. On the fence about UConnect, I probably will.

Re: Sirius Satellite Radio

Greetings,

When I had Sirius with my Uconnect 430 HU, the sound was bad. Thus the lack of any sound quality, way too much compression in the incoming signal. As others have pointed out with newer Uconnect HU's, there has not been any improvement. I found that the on-line version has a far better signal than the satellite.

My recommendation is simple; if you live in an area that cannot get internet music service, then the satellite Sirus service is your only choice. If you can use an aftermarket HU and the aftermarket Sirus 200 tuner, the signal is much better.

Otherwise, the internet has a lot better options to choice from today. If you the premium packages from Pandora or Spotify for example, the audio quality is far superior. I have the both plus Aupeo and all 3 equal to what I was paying from Sirus. If you do not have HD radio, then iHearRadio is going to give you that sound quality.

Hope this helps.

Best for now.

Wait what?

The 5 years is the via mobile stuff, not the remote unlock etc.
