Spoke to a Chrysler rep yesterday who said they are no longer mailing CD's directly to owners, but instead only to the dealers, requiring a service visit. I expressed my extreme displeasure, not only concerning the forced visit to the dealer, but over the fact that they're making this a "closed" system. These are software-based systems, and there's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be able to download upgrades, both maps and services (traffic!) at OUR convenience.

The in-dash system pales next to my old Nuvi 885 - - it has GREAT live traffic and automatic route adjustments - - and my lifetime subscription (I think I paid about $100?) gives me quarterly map updates. Again, no reason why our in-dash systems can't do the same.

Re: Sirius Travel Link 430N

Used the update file today. Worked flawlessly, travel link appeared immediately, and data was available within 10 seconds.

On the other hand, no extension has appeared on my Sirius account, so I'll have to contact them.

Re: Sirius Travel Link 430N

I was told by the case manager from Customer Care that the dealer would take care of the extended Sirius subscription.

Re: Sirius Travel Link 430N - Customer Disservice

A first call into Chrysler yesterday asking about my CD got me nowhere besides a broken promise of a supervisor call back. They tried to direct me to NAVTEQ and Sirius so they could help me. She was clueless even when I referenced their document.

I called a second time yesterday and they could not tell me why I didn't receive a CD nor how they could put me on a list to receive it since I did qualify. I was told to try my dealer for the update. I was told a case manager would call me the next day. He did call me and told me there was no way to get me the CD and to try the dealer.

I contacted a dealer today and they didn't know what I really wanted and was asked to call someone else. I called and was told they didn't have any CDs. I explained their bulletin to him and then he finally said he would order a CD for the dealership and I would get a call when they received it to schedule this maintenance.

I just got off the phone with Sirius because I couldn't access that radio's info. Of course it was registered to the dealer and from what it sounded like, it was about 6 months worth of subscription. I was told I'm supposed to get a call within 15 minutes with access to the radio information on the account. She was one of the better reps. I've talked to in the last 6 years I've dealt with Sirius and I'll believe her once I get that phone call.

I'm NOT happy about wasting my day, or any part of it, at a dealer for a 20 minute job I can easily do myself. It costs Chrysler less money if the customers do it themselves, but unfortunately it's costing me so much more money wasting time with this BS. I'll be calling them again until I get my update and get a full 2 years of radio, travel and backseat for all this BS. Unfortunately car makers jumped into bed with technology and they DO NOT know how to support it. These computers will need to be updated regularly for the duration of the warranty, and the most important part, let the effin' consumer do it themselves by downloading firmware and software updates from the manufacturer to cut their costs down.

I just got my CD in the mail today. Anyone that hasn't received theirs yet I'd say it's probably still in the mail.

I didn't call anyone either. Got it automatically.

Yeah, if you're pretty sure you are due a CD, don't give up just yet. Mine also just came yesterday (12 May). Of course I had done the update weeks ago, thanks to those who got a CD early and made the file available to all. There is a card with the update CD that you should probably check the right box on and send back to (hopefully) get your vehicle's status updated in the Jeep system somewhere.

Re: Sirius Travel Link 430N

So, I've burned the CD, copying all the files from the ISO download. As soon as my brings the GC home, I'm going to attempt to update my 430N to show the Travelink.

My GC has a build date of 3/11/11 and was purchased on 5/1/11. No Travelink icon in the system. I guess it slipped into a no-man's land for this update.

For those that have done the update, do I just insert the CD and let it do its magic?

No. You must answer several prompts on the screen. Follow the instructions on pages 3 and 4 in this document:
http://www.jeepgarage.org/attachment...9&d=1303467173
When it says "After about 2 minutes," I actually had to wait 7 minutes. During this time, the radio displays a clock, just like when it's powered off. Don't mess with it; it will come back on by itself.

Be sure your ignition is ON (with engine not running). If ignition is in ACC, it may power down during the upgrade. That would be Really Bad.

Very nice! That's exactly what I needed. I will give this a go later tonight.

Thank you very much.

Re: Sirius Travel Link 430N

Update: I loaded the 430N update to by build date 3/11/11 GC last night. Everything went smoothly and I now have Travel Link. It seems like it is a cool little gimmick that may come in handy now and again. The best part, so far, is the immediate-on at power up. No more "Jeep, uconnect" logo while I wait for the radio to come on.

Thanks to all for the update you posted and the directions you linked to. This is why I hang in these forums.

Hmm . . . I not only had my engine on, I drove during the update. Maybe I was just lucky!

Engine running or not doesn't matter so long as you're not sitting in a closed garage. What's important is not to use the ACC position because it will turn off after fifteen minutes. That could brick your head unit.
