Started yesterday Sirius XM not working. Getting message (acquiring signal) Just got off the phone with them and they did a refresh but it didn't help. They said I need to take it to the dealership. My subscription is up to date, everything else is working fine just not XM. Has anyone else had this problem?

There is a TSB that just came out for something like this. They replace the antenna. Go to WK2Jeeps.com - 2011-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee and under technical service bulletins and recalls you will see the TSB recently listed for poor radio reception

Thanks for the link. I am hoping that it is just antenna replacement. It says in the bulletin
(SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
A customer may experience, SXM (Sirius/XM) radio has intermittent muting)

My XM went out and never came back on. I am surprised I didn't get more responses. I guess no one else is having this problem. Jeep goes to dealership on Wed.

There have also been solar flares lately that may be affecting Sirius just like they are affecting GPS performance. But total loss of signal does point toward something localized in the vehicle.

There are two separate issues with Sirius XM performance...

Acquiring Signal: Losing the signal in areas where you wouldn't expect to. There are no terrain features present to block the signal... hills, buildings, bridge overpasses, etc. That issue is corrected with the antenna TSB.

XM Service Loading, Please Wait: Random, without warning, dropouts that will take Sirius offline while attempting to reload or reacquire a connection to the service itself. This will mute sound and take down all of your channel presets and other controls related to Sirius for a minute or so until connection is reacquired.

I had both of these issues on mine. The antenna TSB solved the acquiring signal issue with nothing further needing to be done.

My XM service loading issue was a different matter. The dealer updated my U-Connect software and worked with the Sirius sat techs to go through all of the resets and resubscribing of my radio ID. They also ordered a new 8.4AN radio for me.

Funny thing was in the days I waited for the radio I never once experienced the reloading issue, which was a daily occurrence. Never experienced it again after the radio replacement. So I can't say what procedure actually solved that problem.

So disgusted right now! Brought Jeep in today to dealership for no satellite signal. Just got off the phone figuring I was going to pick up the vehicle and now they tell me they tried to do some kind of flash up-date and the unit is locked up! AC isn't working either. They ordered me a new radio which will take 3 days to get in that puts me into the weekend. The service manager couldn't give me an answer as to when my car will be repaired. I live in South FL and no way in hell am I driving with no AC in this heat for a week or more! I wound up renting a car under the maxicare service contract but that's only good for 5 days then the rental comes out of my pocket! Also concerned about them having to take the dash apart to put new radio in! Needless to say it hasn't been a good day!

while the rest of your story is a big PITA and would annoy me to no end-
changing the radio is trivial so dont worry about that bit-

they pop the console trim and then there's 4 bolts holding the radio and the whole flatish thing (sort of like a really thick tablet computer) pops right out. A wiring harness and a few antenna connectors to undo. Then do it all in reverse. It's maybe 15 minutes total.

UPDATE: Radio was replaced with new one. Now not only does Sirius not work (acquiring signal) my navigation doesn't work either. It's at least 200 feet off....Tommorrow I go back for radio #2

Dropped Jeep off at the dealership yesterday (friday) at Arrigo in West Palm Beach FL one of the largest Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge dealers in the US for the 4th time. I'm hoping I'm wrong but since I haven't heard back from them I'm going to assume there's another problem with the 2nd new radio. Or they just don't know how to fix the problem. I'm going to wait until Monday to call them. Last time they had my Jeep for 7 days. I can't believe I am going through all of this just for a radio replacement. If the problem is not taken care of I'm not sure what my next step should be... Go to another dealership? Complain to Jeep? Any opinions/recommendations would be appreciated!

The dealership has no idea how to fix problem. I opened case with customer service. In the past month my Jeep has spend 16 days at dealership. It is currently still there!

I am going to wait and see what Jeep customer service does for me first. I contacted Kristen, she handles all the u-connect issues. She told me she'll handle it from here and will contact me with an update. The dealership said they have been on the phone numerous times with Jeep tech support but everything they have tried failed. I just don't get it two radios later and all this B....S... over XM radio reception and navigation unit not tracking correctly.

BIZJET, just curious... did they replace the fin antenna with another fin antenna? Last time in they checked for my 2014 JGC Limited and service dept. said there was no tsb for my vehicle.

But, my reception isn't nearly as good as in my wife's Nissan. Yes, there are trees at times, etc., but she had a mast antenna, I have the fin. Can I replace the fin with a mast? I also had a 2011 JGC with a mast and I don't remember the reception being this bad. It isn't all the time, but I remember better in the 2011 and it is better in my wife's Nissan. Maybe need to go to a different dealer and claim bad reception in a clear area.

Any thought?

Thanks in advance!

Update: Get a call Sat at 4:30pm from the dealership to come and pick up my Jeep. Seems they replaced the radio, antenna and did a master reset. The notes say they were on a 3 way conversation to a tech in Michigan and a tech from Sirius radio. Can't believe it took this long to get to the bottom of this issue but I am glad it's resolved. Not sure if it's a coincidence but I opened up a star case with Jeep a few days ago and 3 days later the problem is solved. On a side note having the maxicare service contract entitled me to a rental car (Chrysler 200) Even though maxicare covers only 5 days they said I can keep it for as long as they have my vehicle. In my case the extended warranty is already paying for itself. Total rental period 19 days.

It's too bad it took a Star case in the first place to get that resolved. I didn't have to go through all of that to get my radio issues resolved, and it didn't take 19 days of sitting at my dealership to finally come up with the fix.

Sorry you had to go through all of that.

If you have the shark fin stick with that and have them do the swap and you should be good to go. Print that TSB out and any others that apply to your vehicle and get them all done. Mine is at the dealer now for various TSBs,these guys see me walk in and their eyes kinda roll ?they know how I am about my vehicle so there's no hesitancy in performing anything.
