Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

I currently have a BMW X5 and have perfect Sirius reception. The 2014 Jeeps I test drove had horrible reception. This is not the fault of Sirius - it is a big problem for me as I listen to Sirius most of the time I am in the car.
Anyone know if there is a way to add/change to an after market antenna?

Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

It's funny on the open road heading to N.C. from NYC I had very few drop outs. While around town here in NYC I get way more drop outs than you would expect.

Feel like I need to resurrect this thread. My aftermarket Sirius radio I had in 2001 GC never gave me anywhere near as many dropped signals as my '14 Limited. Has anybody been to the dealer about this? Or found a solution?

Can one just run an after market antenna to the rear of the stereo? I'd hate to have an extra antenna on the roof but there needs to be a solution for this horrible reception.

Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

I was unhappy when I submitted this thread originally, and I'm even less happy with Sirius reception now. Given the replies above, I'm convinced the fault lies w/ Jeep and/or UConnect rather than with Sirius. I really don't want an additional antenna.

I'll probably just coast along listening to other media until the free service term expires, then challenge Sirius to find an answer, or drop my subscription. Although the answer lies w/ Jeep or UConnect, Sirius has a bigger stake in this matter than I have, so Sirius will apply more pressure for a fix.

yeah it is a jeep uconnect weak reception problem for whatever reason. I like my jeep a lot but the XM drops significantly more than past cars I have had. Its not terrible but definitely noticeably worse.

Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

this is the first vehicle that i have ever had XM drop at random times.... I can expect that in a tunnel or next to a mountain (like in PA) the signal will drop, but to have SXM drop while next to trees!??? lol no. Unacceptable. Only way i would keep sxm is they give it free

Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

My Overland was built in Feb.
Dealer told me that Jeep site says this tsb does not apply to me even though the tsb states it applies to wk2 before Nov.
What are others being told?

Tom

Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

I have now been to the dealer 4 times. I only get sirius reception and nav about 5 minutes and the it cuts in and out until the vehicle sits overnight and gets cold. The dealer did updates-no fix, the dealer changed the radio-no fix, now they ordered a wire harness but I belive the trouble is in the antenna system but they don't listen to me even though the message that appears on the radio screen states "check antenna, see dealer for service"

Mine was built in March and I had the TSB done last week and it fixed the reception problem. You may want to try a different dealer
