Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

I have a July 2013 build JGC Limited. I also have Sirius XM in my 2013 Chevy Silverado company truck and have had it in prior Silverados for the last 10 years (I get a new one every 2.5 years).

Driving in terrain-challenged mountain states or heavily wooded areas I get Sirius drop out in both the Chevy and the Jeep. But it is certainly no worse in the Jeep...occurs in pretty much the same places. Usually when in a narrow canyon with high hills rising to the side. Sometimes in very dense stands of tall trees. Definitely never when out on the open road or passing under overpasses, etc.

My dealer has never replaced a shark fin antenna. They think they will have to remove the headliner and I'm not interested in being the first one they do.

Did they have to remove your headliner? Satisfied with the appearance afterwards?

Tom

Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

According to that that TSB my vehicle that was built in Dec should not have the problem but it does. It is awful compared to my Jetta. I have had sirius pretty much from the beginning and never had this level of dropouts.

I just did the uconnect update and was hoping that made it better but this AM on the way to work it dropped out for 12 seconds. In that same stretch of road I never got a drop out with the Jetta or the car before that where you had to run an antenna outside of the car.

I don't think they need to remove it there is plastic cover piece in the center in the back and I think they can just remove that. Anyway I cant even tell that anything had been taken off they did a good job.

Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

Spoke to my dealer about fixing the antenna issue and I received a lot of resistance so I dropped the conversation. When my Jeep went in for the scheduled oil change/service I printed out the TSB and left it on the front seat for the techs. The part has now been ordered and will be installed in a week.

After you get it installed, could you post a picture and note if it really makes that big a difference?

Thanks...

It looks just like the antenna they take off. I was told it has different wiring. Mine has not cut out since being replaced.
