Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

Dealer just ordered the new antenna for my 2/13 build Overland. Will post the results when installed.

Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

My JGC was built in December but seems to have the same problem. Contacted the dealer on line and they said they would get back to me. Of course they did not, so I contacted them again. We will see what happens. Talked to another dealer and they said that there is nothing they could do.

After the Uconnect upgrade I think it is a little bit better but only drove the truck for two days before I got the upgrade. However it is significantly worse than any other sirius/xm radio I have ever had and like I said earlier, I used these radios since sirius opened for business.

Not sure I would not enroll when the trial period ends because I am on the road so much and nothing really compares at this point but if I had a short commute where I could listen to a single or a few FM station I probably would not renew.

So anyone who got the new antenna who says it is fixed does that mean only in pretty extreme locations will it cut out. Tunnels, long underpasses etc. Or is it just better than before.

I have has Sirius or XM in last few vehicles. On certain days of the week I have a 120 mile drive. There is a spot behind a tall rock wall that has always caused the two previous vehicle radios to cut out. Other than tunnels or bridges thay have worked great. The 2014 GC before the new antenna would cut out often and everywhere, I would be driving and it would cut out with nothing around to cause it. Sometimes it would cut out 5-10 times on this trip.

After the new antenna it works like my past vehicles. I drove the 120 mile trip and it only cut out behind the rock wall one time . Worked perfect rest of trip.

Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

My radio is now cutting out more than ever. I read somewhere that it might have something to do with my phone but I tried turning it off and even left it home once to see if it changed anything and it did not.

If the weather is rainy or snowy it will cut out 5 or 6 times just on the highway and often in spots where there is no good reason for it to break up. I have had a Sirius radio for many years so I know the types of situations where losing connection is to be expected but this radio is so bad that I probably am going to try using my phone to get some music service.

I get that Sirius does not have the greatest sound quality but that is something that is not an issue, what is an issue is going down the highway in total silence for 4 or 5 or more seconds many times during my 50 mile commute. This truck is much higher than my Jetta so it really should be less prone to lose of signal due to hills or obstructions next to the road.

While my vehicle is supposed to have the updated antenna my next visit to the dealer I am going to push for them to replace it.

Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

I'm sitting here looking at a letter from Sirius telling me my free one year subscription is about the expire and it will cost me $165. to renew (and get a month free).

I'm not inclined to ship off that amount of $ for a faulty product that just irritates me when it comes and goes for seemingly no reason.

Re: Sirius XM Antenna problem...?

Well now that the trees have gotten their leaves this problem is as I suspected worse than ever. Seems like I spend a quarter of my one hour commute home in silence. It does seem to be far worse when I am driving south or south east than when I am going the opposite direction.

Has anyone else gotten the new antenna and found that the problem has been resolved. If I listened to only music I would just use my cell phone or mp3 player but I like to listen to CNBC and I do not know of a way to listen to that other than Sirius.

I still have 6 months to go while it is free but unless something changes I am pretty sure that I will not pick up a new contract and I have been a subscriber almost from day one it was on line.
