SiriusXM Problem

I am leaving on a 6 week trip in 2 days, so I hope someone can help me solve this.

Running 13.48.3 since it came out.

Renewed Sirius service last week.

Last week, dealer installed new Shark Fin antenna.

Yesterday, while driving, I lost all Sirius signals. Radio periodically had message "acquiring signal". AM and FM worked fine. 30 minutes later Sirius started working.

An hour ago, all my SiriusXM presets disappeared. I get all stations OK. FM presets did not disappear. I entered several SiriusXM presets but touching the presets does nothing. I turned the car off, opened the door to turn off the radio, and restarted the car. Same problem and it continued for an hour until I got home.

I did not try using the touch screen on other displays - I'll do that shortly.

Thanks, Tom

Re: SiriusXM Problem

Just went out to my car and everything was working fine. All my old presets came back. Touching a preset works now.

Hopefully, this won't happen again on our trip.

Did they happen to update your UConnect at the same time?

Other than this glitch, is the new shark fin enormously better, or just a tad?

I had never had the radio act that way before and I have had it a year and gone through several updates.

I learned to WAIT and see if it corrects itself in a few hours.

Regarding the shark fin antenna - I live in a small town with only 3 story brick buildings in town. The radio still loses signal when driving by them. I have not had it lose signal just driving down an open road, so I am hopeful it's better.

Re: SiriusXM Problem

The more I read about the reception the more depressed I get. I have had Sirius since it began and went through all the iterations of antenna's that came with their radios and of all of them this is probably the worst. I drive a lot so having the ability to listen to a single station no matter how far I drive is extremely important to me and while I love the GC this radio thing is a constant annoyance.

I only have troubles when in some of the canyons here--and one mysterious place near a liquor store in Louisville where it always drops out for about 20 feet.

I had a very small bit of dropout in Glenwood Canyon, but other than that [or a tunnel], out on interstates and wider highways, no issues.

I was just wondering if it would be worth the while to get the new antenna, since the TSB does include my build date.

Re: SiriusXM Problem

I have had the new Shark Fin antenna and tsb for over a week. I just completed an 1,100 mile trip down the east coast and spent a few days in SC. I have not had a single signal loss on the trip. However, most of my travel has been on interstates. So, far I am very happy with the upgrade results.

Hate to say it, but your satellite reception will never be as good as the people down south get it...you're just too far up north for 100% signal from the satellite itself since it sits lower on the horizon the farther north you go.
