SiriusXM Traffic

Getting ready to renew my Sirius XM subscription for another year. I am considering adding the Sirius traffic feature to my substitution. I did have it free when I first purchased the Jeep but never used it.

I am now doing a lot of traveling and wondering if its accurate, reliable and actually gives you enough warning to avoid backed up highways?

If anyone uses Sirius traffic would like to here your opinion.

Not really sure if it's worth an extra $3.99 a month.

Re: SiriusXM Traffic

I didn't realize that it was a separate change, but I do find it accurate 90% of the time. It does warn you ahead of the time and accurately identifies the trouble spot on the GPS map. I have no clue as to how it gets all information so quickly, but it does not drop the information in a timely manner once the traffic situation is all clear.

Re: SiriusXM Traffic

After the free trial runs out it's an extra charge same goes for the travel link.

Thanks for the info.

Re: SiriusXM Traffic

It works fairly well, but Waze is much better. It uses real time user input, and it's free. You do need a smartphone.

I sometimes use the Waze audio along with the Jeep navigation. Waze works great but you need to be looking at the Waze map on your phone to see if there is traffic ahead. I usually just set my phone in the drink holders.

It seems to pick up new information quite fast. Unk if tied into any law enforcement monitoring or what.

As you note, it seems to take much longer to get rid of a warning once the situation has cleared.

Nothing like piddling down a frontage road next to the freeway and seeing that the freeway is clear and moving much faster than you are.

[with the freeway built such that even a Jeep might not want to tackle taking a short cut.... ]
