I installed the RHR, and am currently running SW version 1.911 and Gracenotes 3265. Does anyone know what the current software version should be, and if there are updates?

Not sure if the different key fobs are the problem. May be just a coincidence. Again, I lost my address book and I only have used the one key. I lose the book weekly.

I thought I'd confirm that my RHR is perfectly well behaved and has lost no settings or addresses, since being installed on my Laredo which is sans memory functions, etc. It has the 2.120 update installed, but there were no issues prior to that either, though it was a short period.

On the music side: so far Apple connectivity is fine with visiting iPods and my iPad and BlackBerry 9700 sync via Bluetooth very well. Personally, I keep my music on a 16GB micro flash drive (http://www.sandisk.com/products/usb-flash-drives/cruzer-fit-usb-flash-drive - see the second image to realize the size of it) that lives in the front panel USB port and this works perfectly because I can pop it out and take it inside with me to add/change what's on it; otherwise it stays in the vehicle and is always ready to play away happily. I think this is awesome and I wouldn't have it any other way. It is also 100% iTunes free, which I consider to be quite nice. ;)

Folks, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.
Everything was going fine until about 90% into the software upgrade when I got the message "Error in software upgrade. System upgrade aborted". I tried to get the disc out, but nothing would work. I let it set for over an hour hoping it would revert back to default. No luck. Could not get the Nav to shut off at all. Finally decided to pull the battery and reboot the system. Everytime I connected the battery back the disc would start upgrading again. Thought I would let run again but right at the same time it Errored and frooze. Rebooted several times but no good. After a couple of hours of fustration I finally just left the battery unplugged so as to not drain it. So now my Jeep is sitting in the driveway with no way to lock it. Now I am out a vehicle till I can get it to the dealer. How am I going to explain this. Hopefully there is a trick to get the disc out. I don't want to have the dash torn apart or have to pay for a new unit.
Very PO'd right now.

Did you verify your dvd before using it? Fuse M12 in your TIPM will disconnect the radio and let you use the rest of your Jeep until you solve your problem. FYI it's EASY to pop the trim panel and access the unit: four 7mm hex screws for the unit itself, I believe. But keep playing with it begore you pull it.

Try having someone else connect the power so you can apply the eject button immediately, before the update boots.

OK. So I went back out to take a lower res picture and to my surprise the unit had shut off. When I tried to turn it on it asked for a security code. I tried 1111 and 1234 but neither worked. After a couple of attempts the screen said the anti theft has locked me out for 30 minutes. Rebooted the system again and also got the security screen. I then toggled through ACC/RUN/OFF and got to the normal nav screen. I was then able to get the disc out. System Info says I have 2.120. I don't know what in the world happened here but it seems to working fine for now. Hopefully I didn't corrupt anything.

I don't understand why my unit is so fickle and unpredidctable. Hopefully the next software update is more solid.

thanks for the help.

The software wasn't the problem; you have/had a hardware issue, most likely a bad DVD or a dirty lens. Less likely, but also plausible, is a faulty hard drive. Glad you got it resolved. Don't be careful or delicate with it, use the hell out of it - if you continue to have/find issues with the unit, make your dealer replace it.

All my presets have held for a few weeks. One thing I did after the update was go into the evic and disabled RKE linked to memory. Turned the car off and on then turned RKE linked to memory back on. Did the proper setup steps with the fobs and have been perfect since.

Diddling with the RKE link to memory setting is an interesting concept. Haven't done the update, but we don't need or particularly want RKE linked to memory, so I just went out and turned it off to see what that buys us.

Who knows, perhaps just doing that will resolve the vanishing presets/nav settings issue?

Its been two weeks since update and the radio has not lost home or presets. Prior to the update it took perhaps 3 days.

Haven't tried the nano yet, should have it back Friday.

I was able to see weather fronts today but only in the USA (farthest zoom out) view.

Have you tried? Or can you please try your iPod nano 2nd generation in your Jeep with 730N RHR and let me know if it plays through the USB in the center console?

thanks!

Been running 2.120 for over a month now and no memory loss. Also, my 32GB usb drive works much more reliably now. Before the update the radio would forget what song it was on and would start over at the beginning of the usb drive whenever you started the vehicle. Works as expected now.

That feature was probably temporarily unavailable at the time, or location you were at. Try it again at a different time or in another location and it should work fine. I just did the install and the weather map is totally functional.

The only time I was able to see fronts is when the map is zoomed way out (regional view). Sometimes it seems like the info is not available from the satellite.

I went to the dealer and told them the problems I was having. They went through the there computer asked me a bunch of questions for 15 minutes and nothing came up.

I told them to do a search for RHR Update and something came up. They ordered the update disk 2.120 for me that day.

I am in vacation in south Florida so I wont be able to get into the dealership till Monday.

One issue I am noticing after installing 2.120 on my 2012 Town and Country with VES (Vehicle Entertainment System) is that my son will be watching the entertainment system and we will get out of the car and shut it off while the DVD is still playing. Once we get back to the car, the DVD will be still playing but no sound through the speakers and VES button greyed out and inactive. Need to physically eject DVD and put it back in and lose the progress of where the DVD was playing in order to get sound back into the speakers. This never happened before...

Anyone with with RHR 2.120 with Rear Entertainment option noticing the same?

Attempted the Update using a valid USB thumb drive. Extracted the files from the RAR files.

Update seemed to be going well:

1. Media verification step - passed - this seemed like good news
2. File by file progress - for about 30 minutes
3. > 3/4 complete (per the progress bar) - SERIOUS Error During Update
4. Waited several minutes - no change - HDisk still spinning
5. Popped fuse M12 - waited a couple minutes and replaced
6. Radio did reset, but immiedately resumed the software update

Re-verified media, then quickly skimmed over some of the early process steps. Appears now to be hung on a step previously completed. Will let this spin a bit longer to see if any changes.

For those with SERIOUS error message - did the setup process resume? Did it ever complete??

Not freaking out just yet...

Any suggestions??

Thanks to a couple good suggestion from the myGiG forum, the update completed successfully! Yay!

The following is from my last post over there:

Well, I am here to report: SUCCESS. Yay and whew!!

Here's what happened:

1. Loaded fresh files from a different source to the USB Drive
2. Inserted USB, inserted Fuse, system restarted
3. System RESUMED the install from about 50% completion (last night would NOT resume at all)
4. But, install FAILED again at the same file "6852.bin", about 85% total completion point
5. Let it sit for 20 mins at error screen, then the radio went into a boot loop
6. Get booting, resuming, erroring out... (2-3 times) - this was new
7. Popped open the radio door (as suggested above) and inserted a fresh DVD image
8. Upon the last reboot loop and resume, I could hear the DVD Drive spinning up, accessing files
9. Install proceeded from ~50% point, and then right on PAST the notorious "6852.bin" file...as I held my breath
10. Install proceeded to activate the freshly flashed FPGA and then rebooted itself
11. BOOM - Radio booted as normal!

Wow, that was a bit less than painless, but turned out to be successful in end.

Thanks for the suggestions to pop open the drive door and insert a fresh disk. I was extremely concerned I'd stay STUCK and now also have a disc stuck in the drive...
