Just turn on to run. For me it was smart enough to keep the radio on even if the Jeep shuts itself off after it sits on run for too long. It was about an hour for me updating from 1.9xx

Re: Software Updates to the RHR

Has anyone trusted leaving their vehicle while the update is running? No reason it shouldn't work.

I like that the head units manage their own power and honor power state commands over the CAN-bus, UNLESS there is a power priority like during an update.

Re: Software Updates to the RHR

Does anyone that has done this latest update have an iPod Nano 2nd Generation and can see if it works now?

I sort of left it while it ran. I tinkered around the garage and talked with the neighbor while it was going. When I checked on it, it was finished and shut off. I don't think there is anything to worry about in leaving it.

Re: Software Updates to the RHR

Installed it this afternoon without a hitch. Took about 45 minutes. Just let the car run and sit there by itself.

Re: Software Updates to the RHR

Mine took about 20 minutes to upgrade. BTW, the Jeep just needs to be in ACC position, not in the run mode. As soon as I get my nano back, Ill give it a try.

any chances that the car turns off while doing an hour long update in the AC/Accessories position?

Re: Software Updates to the RHR

I did it yesterday. With A LOT of tense moments.
I had the disk (ISO), put it in, and start the procedure. When about 92-95% done, I got a message - Serious problem encountered, process aborted (or equivalent).
Unit did not shutdown, no software buttons, the hardware ones had no effect. Left it as it is for about half an hour (dinner time). I found the unit still with power - the car was off and locked.
At that moment I decided to pull out the fuse. Unit off, put the fuse back, the radio started the update procedure right away. I tried several times, did not open.
Same thing with the second fuse, or the combination.
The update was starting at about 50%, and failing on different stages (files).
I was lucky enough that one of those restarts did finish with no error.
Only then I was able to eject the disc.
Was a TDK -R ..... scared me to death.

Re: Software Updates to the RHR

I want to do this. Does it need to be any specific type of disk? DVD-R or DVD+R? If asked for a security code what should I enter?
