Re: Softwareupdate with USB2 Stick its works!!!!!

a 16GB flash drive will work? Does it have to be USB 2.0?

Re: Softwareupdate with USB2 Stick its works!!!!!

When I did the update, I verified that the flash drive was formatted Fat32. You can check this in Windows XP by clicking "My Computer", selected the drive from the list, right clicking it and clicking "Properties", it will show next to "File System". If it's not Fat32, make certain you've saved or backed up any files you want to keep and then right click the drive again and select "Format" and select "Fat 32" from teh list.

If it is already Fat 32, put a single MP3 file on it and see if the nav system can recognize the file using the "Aux" feature, used to play music off of a USB drive. If it doesn't perhaps it's a problem with the flash drive, if it does, delete that mp3 file, copy the required files, teh "Becker" folder, the CD_INFO.CDI and CONFIG.CDI files onto the flash drive.

What worked for me was placing the flash drive into the USB port on the front of my RHR, before switching the Jeep into "acc". It took a few minutes for teh system to "find" the update and start the process.
For me it took about 40 minutes total, and that was only updating a minor version difference, but it did work.

Good luck!

Mine was a 16 gig SanDisk Cruzer, a bargain bin special from Staples, it was USB 2.0 compliant, but that doesn't mean USB 2,0 is required.

I left my Jeep running for the update from the DVD. Do you need to do that?

I did not start the jeep, I put the flash drive into the USB slot, pressed the ignition button twice without touching the brake pedal to put it into "Acc" mode, and waited. After a few minutes a screen came up, security, or something along those lines, which checks the integrity of the files, after that it started updating. Normally the Jeep shuts itself off after about 10 minutes in Acc mode, but it didn't while updating. I left the key in the Jeep just in case (while in my garage) and checked on it a couple of times just to satisfy my curiosity. When I checked on it about 45 minutes after I started everything was off, I removed the flash drive, put it in ACC mode, it took a little longer than normal to come up, but it did, I checked the system settings and verified that it did update, and it did. All is well so far.

Good luck!

Re: Softwareupdate with USB2 Stick its works!!!!!

Just did the update with the Flash stick. Question, I thought it erased all my settings when I updated last time. This time all my recent trips and home address were still saved...Does that mean the update did not work?

The same thing on mine. Check the system settings and verify that the system software is 2.120.

Re: Softwareupdate with USB2 Stick its works!!!!!

If the update didn't require changes to the user database definition then it would have no reason to clear/reset any user data. Like Corp Cog pointed out, you can verify your system version under System Information.

If I had installed 2.120 before via DVD how would I know?

You'd know because...you had installed it.

Are you saying that you had already installed 2.120 via DVD and then installed it again via flash drive?

I am misreading your question. ???
