I am misreading your question. ???
That is what I am saying. I had all kinds of issues with my iPod when installed via DVD. SOX recommended I reinstall and I did.

Well, when I installed mine, after it verified the software, it presented a screen showing the current version and the version that would be installed. I imagine the same thing happened during your installation showing the same version for both. It then proceeds to install, at the end it reports if it was successful and restarts.

The only indications I'm aware of are that message and the software version information screen.

Re: Softwareupdate with USB2 Stick its works!!!!!

Yes it reported successful. I can tell you my most recent install (flash stick) has proved to be a better version of the same software (how does that happen?) because my iPod now connects much quicker than it did and I don't have to go searching for it under "devices" anymore.

Well, there you go. I'm glad it's working for you. I think you can trust that the Flash install was fully successful and you're good to go.

Re: Softwareupdate with USB2 Stick its works!!!!!

Any reason I can't do this update while driving the car? (Other than the obvious inability to listen to the radio or use the GPS)

I don't agree that it's better not to do this. The only thing that matters is that you don't drop power to the radio for an hour while it runs the update. If you're heading off on a long trip and don't need music or NAV while you drive, go ahead.

Re: Softwareupdate with USB2 Stick its works!!!!!

Ok what am I doing wrong? Downloaded onto the flashdrive. Inserted it in the port. Turned the ignition to acces. and nothing happens. The light on the drive just flashes very slowly. Sat there for about 7 minutes without any response. Does it matter that there are other files on the drive?
