Re: Softwareupdate with USB2 Stick its works!!!!!

Success! Used a 4Gig thumb-drive with various presentations already on it. No problem. Left the vehicle in "Acc" mode while at work (doors locked, of course). Came out after work and found the vehicle powered-down and the firmware at the new revision.

Don't know if it is just because I was impatient; but to get the process started (after inserting the drive), I went to the main menu, then to the system information screen. Once there, the system found the update and various prompts popped-up.

I am not sure if the other files on your flashdrive may be the potential cause of the problem that you are encountering, but as “Corp Cog” suggested in response #15, I just copied the "Becker" folder plus the CD_INFO.CDI and CONFIG.CDI files. Inserted the flashdrive, turn on the unit and within a minute, the unit recognize that I was attempting to upgrade the software. The whole process went very smoothly and took about 35 minutes for me.

I would suggest that you make a backup of the other files, reformat the flashdrive per Corp Cog’s instructions, copied only the required files and see if that will work.

Also, the three files (two plus the Becker folder) should be in the root directory, not in a folder.

When you select the drive through Windows Explorer, it will display what is contained in the root directory and you should just see the “Becker” folder and the 2 .CDI files.

Re: Softwareupdate with USB2 Stick its works!!!!!

I was able to get this update done using a 4GB microSD card in an adapter.

It took about 45 minutes and went smoothly.

It looks like the update fixed the problem with my 730N losing the Home address and SAT radio losing presets.

Software update with 4GB USB drive

After reading all of the posts about the RHR losing home addresses, it happened to me. Three times. It was the first problem that I've had with my 2012 GC.

I used a 4GB USB drive that I picked up at Walmart for $8.00. The update from 2.116 to 2.120 took 51 minutes to complete. Only time will tell whether my home address sticks. I don't use the NAV all that often and since my home address appeared in the list of recent destinations, losing it really wasn't a problem for me.
