Song info in Driver Info Display?

Is there a way to show Bluetooth song info in the DID? Kind of useless for it to just say "Bluetooth". Wondering if there's an option I'm missing. 2015 JGC Overland with an iPhone 6/iOS 8.1. Thanks.

I don't think there is a way....and I agree that it's pretty much useless if there's not.

Song info in Driver Info Display?

That sux. From what I've read researching other cars the metadata is always transmitted over the BT protocol. It's just up to how/what the manufacturer decides to display. Same goes for sat radio. The song data is always transmitted, but for some reason most manufacturers just want to show the station ID. The Chevy Tahoe is actually one of the few new cars I've seen that puts all the data in front of the driver. Maybe there's a concern over excessive distractions. Counterintuitive to me though - im going to look for the info, why not have it in front of me vs down on the main navi screen.

My Audi shows all the song info on the LCD screen between the gauges, using radio, SAT radio, or even USB or SD card input. I'm not sure why Jeep does not.

BTW, you liked your S4 over the M3?

I'm a two-time M3 owner (first was an E36 and then an E46), but I really liked the E90 too, but never owned one.

I'm also a big Audi fan. I currently have a modded A5 that will outrun a stock S5. I absolutely love the car...it's fantastic.

Re: Song info in Driver Info Display?

Yes, the Audi was just the better all-around package. My E92 M3 was fast and loud and all, but maybe that just wasn't the car I wanted anymore. Plus, the lower torque NA V8 didn't give it that fast "pull" around town that the FI V6 in the B8 S4 had. Sure, get it above 5k rpm and the M was a monster - but that only safely works on the track. Maybe if I'd tracked it more I'd have liked it, but for everyday use the B8 was perfect.

Now, the FI 6 in the E8x M's. That's another story!!

Re: Song info in Driver Info Display?

Chrysler decided to implement an old, outdated version of the AVRCP protocol that doesn't support metadata. I know this for a fact on the 8.4n in my 300. My Jeep is a WK so I can't say for sure what the deal is with the WK2, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't the same issue as with the 300.

It's completely ridiculous. I'm an embedded software engineer who specializes in Bluetooth, so it drives me nuts. I just wish I could have a few minutes alone with the code for these things. Lol

Meta data is displayed on the Uconnect unit itself, they are referring to what is displayed on the EVIC. It truly is useless and IMO kind of a joke that it is even there. I keep seeing reviews raving about how the 8.4 systems blow other car manufactures out of the water, however I've seen plenty 14/15 MY vehicles in the same price range with features way beyond the 8.4 uconnects.

Oh, I misunderstood. You guys actually have it better than us LX guys, then. The 2014 300 doesn't even display it on the main screen. I absolutely love my car, and the tech is far ahead of the 2010 Challenger I replaced with it, but certain parts feel very unfinished. On one hand, I understand fully how things end up making it out the door when they're not everything they can be. But, I also know how much things can be improved if someone allows software updates to be produced.
