Songs Duplicated On USB and SD

An old problem returned again this week. I had not seen this problem since I upgraded to 13.38.52.

I had a memory stick with over 100 songs on it. I normally Browse and play by Artist. All of a sudden, it showed the same song 7 times in a row and the same for the other songs. So, for one artist I had 5 songs and the small track window showed 35. It did play each song seven times. I removed the stick, waited a while and reinserted it. Same problem. I inserted it into my computer and there was only one copy of each song. I purged the whole stick and reloaded it from scratch. I haven't put it in my Jeep to test it yet.

On my Sd card, I have all the songs in folders. In this case, I saw song A, song B, song A, song B and then the next two songs repeating in the same alternating way.

Frustrating.

Does anyone experience this problem or have a cure?

Thanks, Tom

Re: Songs Duplicated On USB and SD

Here is a link to one of many threads on the topic. If this isn't enough search "Multiple Songs"

2014 Duplicate Songs on SD

I think what you are seeing is multiple play lists stored in the head units flash memory. Otherwise they should show up when you put the card in the computer. I also don't think (not sure) that the head unit will write to the card. Some folks reported the same problem even when they had the card locked.

Re: Songs Duplicated On USB and SD

I deleted everything on both the memory stick and the SD card. I reloaded all music and actually added a few songs to each just to make sure they were different than before.

The memory stick songs on my Jeep are a mess. It displays 9 copies of one song and over 20 copies of another song. I will try to reformat the stick and try again.

My SD card seems to be working just fine.

This USB and SD functionality has been a frustrating struggle since I bought the car. I will be updating to 13.48.3 today and hope it improves this.

Re: Songs Duplicated On USB and SD

I installed 13.48.3 and my problem with memory stick (USB) duplicate songs went away. It and my SD card seem to be working perfectly now.

The update probably cleared the cache memory in the head unit.

That's my guess anyway.

I noticed this issue where I had duplicate albums for a particular artist. I only could see one for each album in the computer but remembered I did some testing of speeds and formats and the repeated albums were what I tested with.

So I formatted and then wiped with ccleaner the sd card but same issue after copying everything back and inserting the as card. So I deleted just the albums which were showing duplicates and put the as card back in and all the albums were gone so I then added the albums back and no more duplicates. Hope this helps.
