Sound move to the Right side then back to Center

At random the sound will move to the right side and then back to a center balance again. It's a very gradual shift and happens every 5 or 10 minutes.

Does it on Sat and FM I haven't listened to AM to see if it happens there.

I think it might be an antenna issue but can't be sure. Maybe it's a known tech issue that an upgrade to the uconnect will fix?

I'm going to book it for an appointment and see if they can figure it out. I'm getting a feeling that it's going to turn into one of those "brought it back 6 times and they still couldn't fix it" type of issue.

Sounds like a balance issue, not antenna. Which system do you have?

It's the 8 inch uconnect. That's about all I know as far as what type of system it is.

Greetings,

Can you please tell us what model do you have? Laredo, Summit, etc... Does it have a sub woofer? This will help narrow down the problem.

Best for now.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the model of the radio.

I have a Summit.

Re: Sound move to the Right side then back to Center

Greetings,

The Summit should come with the HK system as the factory premium. If you count 14 speakers including the subwoofer (the real total is 19) then you have that system. Otherwise, you have the Alpine system at 10 speakers including the sub.

If you have the HK, go into the radio settings for audio (you might have to consult the manual) and turn the setting for the LOGIC 7 off and see if that problem stops. Regardless of which system you have, it sounds like the problem is within the surround sound steering function of the Radio.

You might want to try the CD player, bluetooth or USB device and see if happens. I would trust these devices over the FM and Sat sources. With AM, you should have the center channel speaker as your primary source of information.

Best for now.

Re: Sound move to the Right side then back to Center

I have the Summit but I counted 10 plus the sub. So I guess it's the Alpine system which means i don't have the logic 7 option. But i did hunt for it anyway.

Today on XM is was moving to the right every 2 or 3 minutes. I did listen to it over bluetooth and didn't notice the issue. I'll drop in a CD tomorrow and see what happens. It's scheduled for a service call for my TPMS sensors not reading on Thursday and this issue is also on the list.

Keep chasing it for now I guess.

Thanks for the pointers 1st Jeep

Cheers

Re: Sound move to the Right side then back to Center

FYI - they count some of the speakers as 2 because they have 2 elements.

You may have already known this ... but just in case.

Actually no I didn't know this. So a speaker may actually have two different drivers or channels? Not sure what you mean by elements.

I have ceiling speakers that can drive left and right channels from one speaker. Is it along that line?

So do I have the HK system or not. And if I do why can't I find this Logic 7 control.

No I'm getting confused

My 14 Summit had a somewhat similar happening....it decided to make it's "home" setting for balance/fade back and right. If I re-centered it, it would stay until an off/on (canbus full asleep) cycle then return to back right. It was fixed 2 s/w updates ago.

Hope your fix is that simple. However, I suspect oddities will still exist as I still have zero pt zero "shuffle" and my Nav volume is possessed (ranges 5-24 no matter what you set).

Re: Sound move to the Right side then back to Center

Well they just did a SW fix before I picked it up. Vanity light on the passenger light wouldn't come on and neither would the center lights. That was fixed.

Now that I've located that a light also exists in that little storage area under the radio that's on their fix it list along with.....

TPMS winter tire sensors not reading.
Sun visor hook on the driver side is ready to fall off.
And the balance moving to the right.

Minor I know... but still irritating.

Funny that you mention the Nav volume. The volume on my wifes new Altima seemed really stiff so she mentioned it to the dealer and they decided to replace the radio. The entire Navscreen . Then she got it back and the rear camera didn't work. Replaced the radio again! Then the phone call volume and radio volume were super sensitive. One turn of the volume knob increased the radio volume 50%. And if the phone rang. You'd jump out of the seat. Yup...replace the radio again. Finally fixed. after 4 trips.

I really think these things are getting so complicated that they're beyond the understanding of most techs. Don't need mechanics anymore. We need electronic diagnostic technicians that have been trained in the jeep training center.
