Pipe organ and Telarc junkie, where the M&K woofers were once reviewed by someone who noted that the only thing that goes down lower would be an electric fan.

Suspect Jonas Miller has gone to the great jazz club in the sky by now.

Now, if you could help me lobby Jeep into a HK Citation grade amplifier and M&K Sat/Sub setup in the Overland, would appreciate. :-)

I wouldn't say it makes zero difference, but there are classical AM stations with better bandwidth than the best XM. I dunno why they bother putting classical or good jazz on XM...

I suspect XM doesn't really control the input audio much.
Too many rock type folks think everyone who listens has permanently damaged their hearing already, or they've listened to way too many Cerwin Vega boom-tink sources to know that rock can benefit greatly from not being overthumped in the base and tinked in the mid-treble.

The Highway huh? You and the missus should get together... can't even listen to USB'd Telarcs, Mo-Fi, Concord, Private Music, unless by myself.

Sound system: Summit vs. Overland

The sound system in the summit is alot better and louder then the overland . I owned the 2011 dodge charger r/t with the same system as the overland . It sounds fine but was lacking big time on the amperage . I always had the knob turned to 10 and wanted more . The summit's sound system is ear piercing loud and sounds awesome . So clear .

I don't care for overthumped rock either.

I ran across a thread out here last night where someone asked if anyone noticed that when adjusting the EQ that the music suddenly became fuller or louder the instant you moved a slider. He stated that it was like waking up or turning the EQ on. This occurs everytime he starts the vehicle.

I tried that this morning and sure enough it was like turning the EQ on. The sound instantly improved. I was wondering why mine had been sounding so tinny and flat lately. LOL... well, there's another UConnect glitch.

Greetings,

The HAT speakers that I am using in my setup really reminds me of the MK's. I had good friend that had the 150's. Back then I had the 8 inch push pull sub with NHT tops all powered by Parasound. Too bad the windshield is not another few feet from me. If I did not need the room in the back, I would love to build a push pull sub. Oh well.

Funny, the only thing that I liked about the JBL synthesis HT system was the Logic 7. The MK 950 or MK 150 match with the right amps blows the JBL out of the water from medium to large scale rooms. The sat and sub were crystal clear with every detail present.

Jeep, producing a real sound system.

If this happens, this will be the biggest miracle since the winter games of 1980.

First and Foremost, Jeep would have a heart attack if they saw the price tag in today's prices..

With that said, I will try my best to lobby Jeep.

Best for now.

Re: Sound system: Summit vs. Overland

Keep the speakers you have in the jeep . All you need is a bigger amp and a bigger subwoofer . Set your crossover very high and send most of the bass to the sub . Much stronger amp and sub and you will be good to go . The speakers in the jeep are fine .

Re: Sound system: Summit vs. Overland

I haven't heard the stereo in the Summit, but we have a '14 Overland and I feel it's not great. It isn't so bad I feel compelled to modify it, but it's getting there.

Doesn't seem overly clear or crisp to my ears. Not overly powerful either, but that is somewhat expected.

Basically kinda a normal factory system, but weak sauce in a $55k bracket.

For the HK system I would say dump the speakers and keep the rest. Just to start with. I'm sure some high efficiency speakers should slot in quite nicely except for the front 6x9s that should be swapped for 6.5's. As for the 10" sub, I'm actually considering using the existing HK enclosure, strengthening it up with acoustic matting or tar tape and putting some allthread or wooden dowels in and popping a solid 8" in its place. I had an SQ system in the past with less than half the wattage of the HK where I had to reduce the size of the enclosure and remove one of the two subs because the bass was too overpowering. Just my humble observation, of course.

Greetings,

Excellent ideas. Alpine really has an excellent 8 inch sub:

Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.

or

JL audio's:

8W3v3-4 - Car Audio - Subwoofer Drivers - W3v3 - JL Audio

Best for now.
