Hey guys I need help!
I am having an issue with my new speaker install. If you could be so kind to offer your thoughts it would be much appreciated...
I have a 2011 JGC Overland (10 speaker factory system). I've recently done a complete replacement of the entire stereo system with one exception: the speaker wires running from the factory amp wiring harness to my doors have not been replaced. I used those factory wires to get the signal from my amps to the new door speakers. I snipped the speaker leads coming out of factory amp and connected my rockford fosgate amps to those leads going to all the door speakers. Then once I removed the factory speakers I plugged in a Metra 72-6514 Speaker Wiring Harness to the remaining factory speaker wire harness at each door and connected my new AF speakers to the wiring harness.
I'm having an issue with my rear speakers that I installed recently (Audiofrog GS62 coaxial). They play but they sound like shit. Really tinny like there may be a bass blocker or something. Both right and left sides sound this way.
I've done a bit of troubleshooting swapping amps and RCA cables. I have narrowed it down to something beyond the amps. The trouble always stays with the wires and speakers in the rear. When I connect the rear speaker wires and speakers to an amp channel that is putting out good sound to the fronts the problem still exists. So I'm thinking it's something in the wiring going to the speakers. Or I guess it could be the speakers? I don't really think I could have blown both of them or received two DOAs but I guess it's possible.
Do you have any thoughts? Do you know much about the factory rear speakers and wiring? Is there a bass blocker connected or something in-line?
I'm looking at my factory speaker that I took out and it is not a coaxial. It is just a 6" woofer. And it doesn't look like there is a bass blocker built in to it but I can't tell for sure...
Please let me know what you think. I'm scratching my head at this point...
