My priority would be the tires. More important to have a safe ride and the speakers can wait a while. My the time I was ready for my sound system, it was 2 1/2 years after I purchased MY11.

As for your speakers, just make sure you demo them with music you like.

BTW, I still remember my first computer that dad purchased for me, a Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I with 16K of ram and the cassette deck. The expansion module came the next year followed by the floppy drives. LDOS (Unix type) was my favorite OS for it.

Best for now.
Ha, those things are not as far gone as you think. (Ask the guys who work on the nuclear warfare program.)

I was thinking the same thing, though. Money is not really a limiting factor so that 2nd set of tires is definite. Going up Indian Truck Trail on stock 20" wheels was all the inspiration I needed.

And luckily the issue turned out to be only a bad power steering pump.

Re: [SPEAKERS] How would YOU build this system?

I have the alpine system and only upgraded the center, tweeters, and front and rear doors with 2016 infinity reference drop ins! Sounds amazing no need for anything more and if you shop on eBay you can get them for very cheap!

Look at the other speaker thread about which model speakers I used. Seriously I think I spent maybe a little over 300 bucks total don't waste your money on the focals or hertz unless ur getting a dsp and aftermarket amps it's a waste. The infinity's with the factory alpine amp sound amazing after they new speakers break in. I run mine at +9 bass 0 mid +3/4 treble now with the infinity

Before with the shit stock speakers I had to keep the bass at 0 Mids -3 and treble at +8

It's insane how much of a difference just the infinity speakers made and make sure to point the tweeters down on the rear door coaxials and don't turn on the treble boost on them either.

Re: [SPEAKERS] How would YOU build this system?

So I bought:

Center channel: 3.5" infinity 3022cfx

Front doors: Infinity 9620cx 6x9 components

Rear doors: Infinity 6522ix 6 3/4" coax (point the tweeters angled facing the floor u can twist them to change the angle position)

Look at the other thread for my install pics Highly recommend this mod

Thanks for that 411! That sounds like a awesome value. What exactly sounds improved, if you could describe it?

I ask because next month I'm going to start on the audio upgrading and this sounds like a great plan. My biggest gripe with the Alpines is with its clarity and range.

I ask because next month I'm going to start on the audio upgrading and this sounds like a great plan. My biggest gripe with the Alpines is with its clarity and range.

The clarity and range is dramatically improved sounds like I'm riding in a totally different car I hated this car until I did this upgrade and let it break in.

The highs sound amazing you can actually hear them and nothing is muffled. I'm hearing parts of music that I never heard before in the car! The tweeters dramatically improved listening with the windows down. You can hear vocals over the wind.

The lows are so punchy and not muddy at all!! This is why the bass setting needs to be turned up with the aftermarket speakers (especially at first until the speakers break in). Mine took about 2 months to fully loosen up but my commute is not very long so that may vary based on how much you drive per day. I can actually tell there is a sub in the trunk now because the muddy front stockers were drowning it out.

The volume is dramatically louder at lower levels. Listening to the infinitys at volume 20 sounds like you are listing to the stock speakers at volume 30!

Honestly you can't go wrong with the infinity's if you are staying with the stock amp and wiring!

Re: [SPEAKERS] How would YOU build this system?

Did you use any dampening material on the inside of the doors before you sealed them back up?

Re: [SPEAKERS] How would YOU build this system?

Nope none.
Only the provided double sided tape that forms the gasket between the speakers and doors

How hard was it to install the infinity tweeters, what's the process?

I posted it in the other speaker thread with pictures. Wrap 3/4 of the speaker in 3m foam double sided tape and shove in into the stock tweeter grill. Then just splice together the positive and negative connection to the stock tweeter harness.

I used quick connects and electrical tape to make the splices cleaner. Very simple over all a lot easier than I expected.

Excuse my ignorance but what are quick connects? Are they what's in the link below or spade connectors like second link?
