Re: Spring A/V upgrade project

Jeep OEM backup camera installed. I bought the kit from JustForJeeps.com. This involved replacing the rear chrome brow with the one that included the camera. This also involved running a wiring harness from the brow to the dash. I modified the harness into an RCA jack so I can plug it into an aftermarket headunit.

Re: Spring A/V upgrade project

I also wired up the harness I need to install my new Alpine INE-S920HD Nav headunit. I soldered the wires and used heatshrink on the bare connections. I then wrapped pretty much everything with electrical tape.

I haven't installed the headunit yet, as I'm waiting for a special adapter I custom ordered to be able to hook up the aftermarket headunit's AM/FM, SiriusXM and Nav to Jeep's builtin antenna.

Re: Spring A/V upgrade project

Nice work on the back up camera, that's quite the ambitious project you have there.
Good luck with the rest of the install.

Thanks!

Yup, it is indeed quite the project. Takes lots of planning and patience. The backup camera alone took me a full day.

Re: Spring A/V upgrade project

So this evening I installed the amp and aftermarket headunit.

Amp: Pioneer GM-D8604. 4 channel, 100RMS per channel. Class D.

Headunit: Alpine INE-S920HD

The amp is located under the driver's seat.

For the headunit, I was able to use a satellite cable splitter which allowed me to use the yellow SAT cable for both the GPS and SiriusXM. Works perfectly!

Thanks. I removed both front seats and various trim panels. Quite the undertaking. It was fun!

Front speakers : Alpine type R 6.5" components.

Rear speakers : Alpine type R 6.5" coaxials

You kept the stick tweeters and replaced the front door speakers and rear door speakers only? Did the speakers plug straight into the Chrysler harness?? Do you notice quite a difference in the sound now? What did you use to get to the speakers located in the front and rear doors?

No I replaced the stock front components (separate woofer & tweeter) and rear coaxials. I ran new wires to the doors. So I essentially replaced everything.

Looks good, mind me asking where you got the custom adapter?

So what have you noticed the biggest difference being between the stock system and what you have now?
