Strange Behavior of 730N(RHR)

Not sure if anyone has reported this issue. I have 2,000 miles on the Jeep. Recently I noticed the NAV volume would reset from a moderate level of 14 -15 to an annoyingly loud 23. So I reset it and save it and a few days it does it again. Not really a big deal.

Today after things working most of the day I started the Jeep and there was no sound at all. Not the radio or the NAV system. Phone and NAV steering wheel buttons also didn't work. In the Main Menu the Audio Control button is actually grayed out. So I shut the engine restarted but same problem.
Now I'm ready to pop the fuse box to see if the fuse labeld Radio/Amplifier is blown but my wife is with me and I ask her to call my cell phone.
The call comes in, volume is up and Audio Control is not grayed out. The incoming call fixed the problem. Any thoughts? Anyone know if there is a way to reboot the system?

Re: Strange Behavior of 730N(RHR)

Mine has done some strange things, but not this. I usually have the Nav muted however. It will often loose the iPod audio, disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod fixes that, as well as changing sources. It can't remember where home is, is often loses the map display, showing the vehicle icon on a blue screen... poor directions, losing where it is for a moment... seems to have the most problems when the phone is connected via BT. Whithout a BT phone in the car, seems to operate much better.

Re: Strange Behavior of 730N(RHR)

Turns out the first part of my dilemma was a Big Duh!! on my part. You can adjust the Volume of the Nav on the fly by just using the steering wheel controls when the Nav voice is active. The volume you set it at is the new default and you never really need to go back to that volume screen in setup.

My second problem never recurred. Will admit yours is stranger. Just seems to be a whole lot of bugs in this software.
Try using the voice system to search for a "Point Of Interest Nearby". It gives me some restaurant 300 miles away and lists the same restaurant for pages.

Re: Strange Behavior of 730N(RHR)

The 730N and all the rest of the My Gigs are the worst.

Problem: Locks up and saved address and radio presets were deleted

The first time this happened I had an iPod connected to the unit.
Everything locked up when I tried to access the Navigation.
I shut the unit off and turned it back on it was still locked up.
Turned off the car then restarted it the menus started working with out sound.
Turned the car off for 10 min then the sound started working again.
Disconnected the iPod and have not used the iPod again.
The radio presets were also deleted.

Second time something happened I did not have anything connected to the unit.
I used the voice command and asked for navigation. It replied no navigation available. So I used the buttons to get it to work only to find the saved locations were deleted again. My trips and previous destinations were still there both times.

The iPod takes a long time to connect to the unit. I used various iPods.
So it’s not the iPod causing the problem.

Your not alone MY GIGS are dogs.
