Sub and amp install with base sound and 730N
Hi, I have the 6 speaker non-premium sound system with the 730N nav and i upgraded the door speakers to Alpine, now im planning to add an Alpine M-500 amp and a 10' Kicker comp ten sub for a little bump, im going to have an audio shop do the install and fabricate an enclosure for the sub and install it where the factory sub would be on the right rear cargo area, and i think there going to install the amp in the compartment under the driver seat. What do you guys think of this setup?

I'd like to know how much they charge to do that. I want a sub but I'm really not gonna like how much space a box will take up.

Re: Sub and amp install with base sound and 730N
I got the sub and amp installed yesterday and wow it sure makes a difference with the music. The sub sounds great for a single 10' and i had to turn the bass down a bit to keep from shaking the car lol. They mounted the Alpine amp on top of the little cover under the driver seat and hid everything very well, right now the sub is in a temporary box until i have time for them to build me an enclosure that will go into the right side where the factory sub would go. Overall im very happy with this setup and it only cost $475 which included sub, amp. installation etc. They even loaned me the sub box at no charge until i have them build the side panel enclosure. I had this done at my local best buy car audio shop and the install guys are top notch and very professional, at least at the one in my town.

Nice work. I can't wait to see their custom enclosure. I have the stealth box on the passenger side, but I'm thing about having the shop do a matching custom box on the driver side.
That Alpine amp will treat you well. They always out out more juice than they're rated at.

Re: Sub and amp install with base sound and 730N
I just had the mrp f300 200 watt Alpine amp installed for the door speakers which are also Alpine and it has really balanced out the sound, the bass sounds more even throughout and the mids and highs are clearer and had more punch. Overall im happy with this setup and all i need to do is replace the door tweeters with Alpine and im good to go.
Btw they told me i could run up to 4 10' subs on the Alpine mrp500 sub amp since it puts out 500 Watts per speaker.. more than ill need.lol

Re: Sub and amp install with base sound and 730N
hello there,
I am brand new to the forum and just recently got a '14 Cherokee. I've had an alpine amp and sub I've been thinking about getting installed in the trunk, but im concerened about the install and having to take out the original stereo system in the dash and the overall finish look after the install... you know, running all the wires in hidden areas and so forth. I'm assuming as long as I go to a reputable installer I shouldn't have any problems but just wanted to see what others had done for this. Thanks.

Re: Sub and amp install with base sound and 730N
also, do you know if they had to run a 12v power supply and harness from the battery or can they tap into the 12v in the trunk to power the amp?
