The Harman Kardon Rocks

Just over five months and 7500 km's that I have had my Summit now and I have to say the Harman Kardon stereo Rocks.

We sat in the garage last night with a couple of cool ones and had the tunes rocking.

I could feel the air moving from the bass and there was no clipping and everything was tight, crisp and clean.

Best OEM stereo I have ever had.

If music is important this is a great feature to have!

Not too worried about that, 7 year warranty.
Pretty Happy with the tunes.

Re: The Harman Kardon Rocks

Yeah the HK stereo is IMO very good. Like you said easily best stereo I have had in a car. As always you are going to get those that say it's not great, but that boggles my mind as it sounds friggin great.
I know everyone's ears are different, but as far as EQ settings I have treble all the way up, mid set at about 2 up from center, and bass two below center. Sounds soooo good, especially with a quality audio stream.

As far as rattles I will say this, on my 2014 Summit that I recently traded in (bought new, traded at 7,000 miles), the front door panels did eventually start to rattle a bit. It only happened at higher volumes, but needless to say, it did start to happen. I now have a 2015 HA with HK and its rock solid with 600 miles lol. Hope interests that way, sounds amazing!

My 2015 summit with HK rattles like crazy... I can't even listen to music without the whole car rattling. Took it to the dealer and they did some software adjustments and only made it worse. Going to call them again today. Anyone know what I can do/say to have this problem properly fixrd this time?

Ask them if they could add sound dampening material to the setup. That's what I did with my aftermarket speaker upgrade and it helped dramatically with door/molding rattling.

Re: The Harman Kardon Rocks

I listen to music pretty loud, and I like a fair amount of bass. I was getting speaker rattle mostly in the front passenger door on my '15 HA. I did two things:

1) Add in a shim or two on the offending doors:

Front door speaker rattle solved

2) Since the door pockets are so narrow, to me they aren't particularly useful. So for the passenger side, I rolled up some thin foam padding I bought at Home Depot until it was wide enough to barely fit into the pocket under pressure, taped the roll so it would hold, stuffed it into a black sock so you wouldn't notice it, and stuffed into the back of the passenger pocket. Voila, cheap, simple deadening w/out taking the door apart. Since then the rattles are gone at high volume w/ high bass...

Re: The Harman Kardon Rocks

My HK is great on certain xm stations, sounds average on other stations. Not sure if that deviation is normal. Any tips on how to acheive the best performance? Ipod/cd?

For the best sound forget about xm. But if you're on the free year still, install the Sirius app on your phone and play it through Bluetooth. It will sound a hundred times better, especially if you set it to the highest quality. Plus as a bonus you can modify the stations to your looking and fast forward like Pandora. Any input to the stereo really will sound better than from the satellites.

Re: The Harman Kardon Rocks

I noticed it on my 14 summit , the sat stations suck , the audio level is almost half the sound of off a USB stick with my own music. I don't spend a lot of time in the jeep so I didn't renew the sat stations , but they still call non stop trying to get me to renew even after I told them I am not interested. I didn't use it in my SRT8 and don't use it now , I prefer to have my own music on a stick.

Re: The Harman Kardon Rocks

Right now they're doing 6 months for 24.99. Ya can't beat that. Just send a money order so that can't renew on you with your controlling that. 😎

Re: The Harman Kardon Rocks

Guys, if you want decent music quality you're much better off streaming from Google Play Music or some other well reputed similar service that streams high bitrate music. Satellite radio isn't going to cut it.
