Re: The new 730n RHR ready for order yet?

Yep, I agree with Cperez. I spoke to a dealer and once he realized that I was adamant on the 730, he indicated that he couldn't really say when they would be able to order them. He also said Summit orders now will not have the 730.

Based on these threads...i'm just taking delivery of my Overland w/430N. I'll take the credit, and decide down the road. The 430N will work just fine, if in 6 months I need to have the RHR, I'll swap and pay difference. Dealer showed me today ship date of Overland Summit on 01/05, meaning I could have it in my hands as early as 1/10ish...done...and done.

Joe, like you I've rethought my plan based on the interior and radio availability issues. I have realized that I allowed myself to over-prioritize these two features. When I saw the pics of Mashie's new Mineral Gray + black combo, I knew saddle was kaput for me and I had to have the black interior (not settle for it).

It's been a little tougher with the radio issue and I thank ChryCo, JeepGarage.com, and my own OCD/neurotic pre-purchase research fanaticism for that. I probably would not have given the nav system a second thought had I not learned that there were 3 potential options including one feature-loaded yet mythical model "available." I'm cutting ChryCo a little slack on that since they may be at the mercy of their supplier and it must be fiendishly difficult to orchestrate a launch like this. Talk about the fog of war. Anyway, I need the technology to occasionally point me in the general direction of my destination (I don't use it all that often), play my music (I'm going to use my retired original iPhone to the center stack cubby for this, and load the HDD with music), and allow me to make a few phone calls (both the RHB and RER did this successfully during test drives).

A lot of the guys here seem to be very happy with the RHB and I'm sure it will be a capable unit that will serve me well. There's always a chance that I can wrangle an upgrade later or luck out and get the RHR installed. Time to take action and get this party started. Tomorrow never comes.

WOW!! Ship date of 01/05?!?! I think I ordered one day after you, so wonder if I have a ship date too? Will be contacting my dealer today. I plan on doing the same thing as you regarding the radio. If my summit comes with the 430n and I just can't live with it, I'll get the 730n later. I was too excited about the summit finally being available for order, the I was willing to chance not getting the radio I wanted and go ahead and order it.

I was (pleasantly) surprised, too. I got a little caught up in the (upgrade-itis, late availability) frenzy a bit, just sat back and realized that this is a great car, it will have 99.9% of what I want/need (let's face it, this car is more a case of want than need, lol)...and I'd rather have it sooner than later. The fact that it's a GPS question (430N) was just fine by me b/c a) I currently use a side Garmin GPS unit and LOVE it and b) if the RHR proves itself to be better down the road, then I'll just make that decision later. I'm cool with the decision. My current Jeep has 98,000 miles...leaks oil, all sorts of other fluids...she's just tired, time to give her to my nephew. It's time to just get the new one and be done with it! Milous you rock and thanks for adding me to the list!

Agree with all your rationalizations because that's how I processed it too.

I wonder if your dealer was able to co-opt an existing dealer order, or intercept another customer's abandoned order and assign it to you. That turnaround time is not in keeping with the wait times I've been seeing here. Hope it holds true.

I placed my order today (and changed my sig accordingly). Do I need a VON or a VIN before Milous can add me to his list?

I wouldn't get too married to the estimated ship date. Those are known to be astonishingly optimistic.

Just got an email back from my dealer and I still haven't been assigned a VIN

I believe VIN/VON is required, but that's Milous that I'd defer to. I did provide it to Milous. I do appreciate this site and Milous tracking these orders. It's just nice to feel like we are a part of the process. I read in one of the threads that perhaps my dealer re-purposed an abandoned order? Hmmm, good point. I'm happy to jump the line...that makes sense. I did make a down payment in good faith, I had no issue in doing so...

I agree...I wouldn't be surprised if it pushed, but I remain optimistic!

Re: The new 730n RHR ready for order yet?

Like others I've been waiting for the RHR Nav. For what it's worth, I received this reply from the Jeep Product Information Center in response to an email query I submitted. Nothing new but thought I'd share in case anyone was interested.

"According to our provided resources, the 730N Media Center (sales code
RHR) has tentative order timing of January 2011. With that being said,
we strongly advise that you continue to work with your preferred Jeep
dealership for updates on the availability of the 730N Media Center
(sales code RHR) during the month of January, C2me. The ordering
system changes on a frequent basis, therefore, we strongly advise for
you to remain in contact with your preferred Jeep dealership for the
most up-to-date ordering information."
