Re: The Official "I want to remove my '14 CD Player" thread

I had my CD player removed about 2 weeks ago at the dealer. I hadn't gotten around to listing it online to sell it but I received a call from them yesterday, asking if I still had it. When I told them yes and sent them a couple of photos, they offered me $200 for it. It even has some scratches (tool marks) on it that the tech caused when he was removing it and they still happily took it that way. I passed by and 30 mins later, I left with a check in hand.

My salesperson came over and she told me they promised someone a CD player and I guess they didn't want to wait for one. She mentioned I had my removed and that's how it started.

Man, i gotta say (a little late to the party here), that is probably one of the worst ideas for a CD player location ever.

Thank you and good night

Re: The Official "I want to remove my '14 CD Player" thread

Has anyone found a good spot to re locate this player? I use it to play dvd's sometimes, but not sure if the new uconnect can play digital media files like it should.

Also, what is the total cost of this mod to replace the bin with the larger bin?

That's very interesting. I'm currently thinking of adding the CD-Player to my order but we are not sure if I can still modify my order at this point in time.

I told my SA that the CD-player could also be added later as a dealer-installed option in case it can't be ordered and he told me that this couldn't be done.

So does anybody have any experience ADDING the CD-Player?

Thanks!

Re: The Official "I want to remove my '14 CD Player" thread

Removed CD in my GC couple of weeks ago. Another problem appeared when I visited my dealer to do recalls P44, P64, S49 - all are software upgrades in control modules. The issue appeared after they finished P44, P64 and started S49 (auto-parking) - they call me and asked whether my car were equipped with CD, I confirmed and told I removed it. They told me - instrument panel module is trying to communicate with CD or Uconnect (not sure) and not receiving proper reply - generate errors in the memory, and not allow to upgrade software. So they were unable to complete S49 recall.
Does anyone know how to fix it? Dealer proposed to install CD back, to complete recall

Can you install it somewhere else? Like under the rear seat??? But maybe still be able to use/reach it from the front seat? I'm tall with long arms and could probably reach it if it were in the center under the rear seat...food for thought

Seems like they would be able to just remove the CD player option from your VIN#.

Thank you pointing out the potential software issues. I can't believe this thread is 7 pages and 3 years long and nobody has this all figured out yet. I really want to get rid of this Cd player. Did anyone figure out the part number for the "dual level" lid? Thanks!

There are a couple of threads from back in late '13 or early '14 that list parts and give detailed instructions. You will have to search a little, but it's all there.
