I posted this in another thread. Turns out, it was total user error. The interior lights were set too high. Apparently at the setting they were at, the navigation screen stays on the daylight setting all the time.

Once I turned the interior lights down one notch, the navigation screen now switches from daytime to nighttime settings correctly.

So your light dimmer is fully on (just a click below the all interior cabin light)? Does it switch when your headlamps turn on
If your light dimmter is in that setting (one click below "all interior lights on" and one click above the dimmer), the nav screen stays on all the time.

If you keep the light dimmer at the top of the "dimmer" portion, the nav screen will change automatically from day to night.

I guess it figures that if you want the interior lights on the "super bright" setting, you want the nav on the bright setting as well.

Thanks! Having to set the brightness manually at night was the only thing bugging me about my new jeep. Just need to notch the dimmer down one click.

Re: Three 430n Concerns

I have dead reckoning in my Acura and have found it to be very accurate.

I have been in a large undergroung parking facility, exited from a different location then I entered and it has always been right on.

I will loose my satalite radio, but the navigation keeps working.

I don't know how critical this is.
In real life you shouldn't loose navigation very often, and you should have an idea of the direction you are going.
