Tidbits from the dealer - QL & 730N RHR
I just got off the phone with a dealer that I've been in contact with for a few months. The sales guy that I've spent all my time talking with has moved to a Ford dealer, so today's call was with the internet sales manager.
While we talked through what I was looking to order, he told me that the Overland was in a production delay for a bit (now lifted) while they replaced a module that was causing the Air Suspension Overheating error messages. I remember seeing folks with that error a while back, but haven't heard anything since about it.
As for the RHR radio, he admitted that he knew nothing new about it yet, but was making a case for the 430N since he claimed I'd be able to update the Garmin maps on my own and for a lot less money than doing the 730N map updates, which would need to be done by the dealer. I'm paraphrasing here but he actually said (You can buy updates from Garmin for like $130 vs. paying our guys in the service dept. $400) I also didn't get the impression that he was trying to push me to the 430N so he could make a quicker sale. It was quite the opposite, he was very honest about a lot of things, even suggesting that I list my '99 XJ on Craigslist rather than trading it in (even though he's estimating trade-in value at 10% over KBB).
I still think I want to hold out for the RHR but it would be nice to know more details. As for the info from the dealer, I generally take this stuff into consideration, but never trust that it's completely true. Just thought I'd pass it on.
