Trim the Sub Dash?

I just bought a Pioneer AVIC-5000NEX ( and accompanying harnesses and such ) for my 2012 GC and was reviewing the various manuals. It looks to be quite an installation job.

However, the double din radio provision adapter for the radio unit mentions the following:

"Modification to the sub dash is necessary for the aftermarket double DIN radio to feet. You will need to trim the top and bottom of the sub dash cavity."

Does anyone know what exactly needs to be done?

I was kind of thinking that aside from splicing and running wires, I wouldn't have to actually cut the Jeep up....

Re: Trim the Sub Dash?

Just wanted to follow up in the event another person had this question:

After removing the trim panel, the dash behind it needs to have about 1/4" removed from the top and bottom for the radio to slide in. I used a Dremel tool, which saved tons of time.

There was also a metal support carriage behind the dash that was too small for the new radio. Removal of that was simple - remove 3 screws and slide it out.
