Question U Connect and Android Kit Kat 4.4- Aaaargh!

2011 JGC Overland
HTC One M8
One problem is that U Connect will not recognize an entry as "mobile" number. Keeps saying it is a pager.
The most infuriating problem is that some phone book entries don't even exist according to U Connect. I have to dig the phone out of my pocket and look up the contact and call them manually. Sort of defeats the purpose of voice recognition and hands free
I thought it may be Verizon's Cloud bu!!sh!t since nothing was stored directly to the phone but I have since deleted all that nonsense.
Anyway, who here is driving a 2k11 and has a newer Android device running KK software? Any work arounds? Software update (on either device) help the problem?

Re: U Connect and Android Kit Kat 4.4- Aaaargh!

A little update:
Had the GC in for the booster recall and they updated the UConnect. My message alerts now come through the speakers but still no resolution to the "pager" problem.
Anyone have any tips? I can't imagine I'm the only one.... I hope

Re: U Connect and Android Kit Kat 4.4- Aaaargh!

You didn't mention the specific radio...

I have the 430N radio with Uconnect and a Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android 4.4.2.

The Bluetooth connection worked fine and it copied my address book to the radio with no issues.

I just recently performed a factory reset and had to set up my phone again with the radio and shortly after setup there was a message on my phone to allow the radio to read my phone book with an option to 'always allow'.

IF you are like me and like to go in and shut down unnecessary applications, go back in and make sure all of the "ANT" and "ANT+" apps are enabled. They are related to Bluetooth connectivity.

I have an M8 on the MY14 system, so can't help with the car side of things. If you want, it may be worth going to Gmail on your computer and downloading your address book as CSV and open it with Excel for a look. I had some more minor issues with the way contacts were being displayed, and when I looked at the way the entries were recorded I was not surprised. Unfortunately, phones do not all use the same methods to file contact details... so if your contacts list extends back 20 something handsets, the way the details are stored could be quite inconsistent.

Also check for less common characters in your entries.

Lastly, are a "missing" contacts saved on the SIM, rather than the phone address book?

Cheers,
Steve

No problems with my Android LG G2 and the Uconnect 730N.

I stopped auto sync to the cloud and this cleared up the problem best I can tell.

I have a Galaxy S4 running 4.4.2. Try the following to eliminate the pager issue. It worked for me.

For contacts with multiple phone numbers, do NOT have default numbers. Long press on the default number (mine showed a blue checkmark), and tap "Clear default". The next time your radio syncs with the phone address book, mobile numbers should be correctly identified as mobile not pager.
