U Connect and Hot Spot

Talk to me about U Connect and the Hot Spot that will allow use of a laptop. What do I need to know to use this set-up? Where will it work? Reliable?

Re: U Connect and Hot Spot

I was originally looking to get that feature, but it turns out you could just go to your current provider and get a mobile hot spot and keep it in the car. Verizon has one, its very small and like 5 people can used it.

Re: U Connect and Hot Spot

I read that its a $30 or so a month charge to keep the vehicle online with uconnect.
Seems a bit pricey and considering its using the same networks as your cell provider, i wonder why not use your phone as a hot spot?

Now some phones dont have the ability to do that - but I'm guessing a phone upgrade to one that has is certainly cheaper than 30 a month over time.

Re: U Connect and Hot Spot

Just think of all that lovely cancer you'll get sitting next to your wireless router.

I could see this in like an s class or 7 series, when you could have someone else do the driving...otherwise I don't really get it...I can go a few hours without porn.

Re: U Connect and Hot Spot

I have a Droid X with Verizon Wireless, the hotspot feature can support 8 devices (& its actually pretty fast) and you can use it anywhere you have 3g service. It's only $20 extra / month, and I think it'd be more beneficial to just use your phone versus get all the stuff installed in your car and pay $30 a month for speed that isn't even that fast. to each his own tho..
