U Connect question

My U Connect trial ends in about a month. If I don't renew, what features will I lose?

Re: U Connect question

App access, and being able to reply to text with android phones are the major items.

Re: U Connect question

Will it affect my navigation? I know it won't hurt xm radio as I just got a renewal bill for that too.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Re: U Connect question

You will loose the ability to start your car, blow the horn, etc, using a computer, and possible cell phone.

Just a point, it is not uConnect that you are losing. It is only the portion of it called uConnect Access.

Re: U Connect question

You'll lose the ability for voice texting too. The uconnect website has a list of features. I went through the same thing a month or so ago and let it expire. Aside from the voice texting I haven't noticed it being gone since most of the features weren't used.

Re: U Connect question

I haven't missed it either.

I might consider subscribing if they:

- Find a way to make the remote start work faster. Early on, I tried out the cell based remote start. I was all the way inside the building that I work in. I walked outside and across the lot (a total of a good 1/4 mile including getting out of the building) and noticed the vehicle hadn't started as I approached. I figured it didn't go through until it suddenly started as I was reaching for the door handle. Good job, guys. The fact is, I can use my cell phone to turn lights on and off at my house and activate or deactivate security features and those changes all happen within a few seconds from an entire state away. It takes a couple minutes to start the Jeep or unlock/lock the doors.

- Give me real time feedback on the status of the vehicle, including two way remote start status and whether the doors are unlocked or open. Send temperature information using the climate control sensors.

- Send me an immediate alert if the alarm is tripped.

- Give me a map location of the vehicle if I have activated the function (should be optional for those who aren't into that sort of thing). If I forget where I parked at a large event, I should be able to find it with my phone.

- Let me connect to my WiFi network to automatically apply updates, upload telemetry to a personal UConnect vehicle stats page (including mileage, service history, recall notices and diagnostic information). I should be able to see the last known tire inflation data, gas level, and fluid conditions.

- Let me plan a GPS route using software on my phone or computer and upload it to my Jeep using my home WiFi.

- Let me using any mapping software, music apps, etc. Let it sync with my Google calendar to remind me of appointments. Let me choose what weather app I want.

- Allow me to navigate to contacts in my cell phone where address information is available.

Re: U Connect question

My wife accidentally tripped the alarm the other day and I got an alert in less than 30 seconds.

I don't know all the new features, but I was surprised to see my tire inflation on my computer screen at home. I was on the uConnect site and it set all 12 checks were good.

I believe 'Send and Go' lets you plan your trip on your computer and sent it to the Jeep.

Maybe they have improved some other things to0. Mostly they are features I never used on my '14. If I get to my car and can press a button to start it, rather than standing in front of the car dealing with a crank handle, I'm happy.
