That did it. Thanks so much for the tip.

I had suggested to "someone" that you two guys would make excellent Beta testers... you are both so calm and collected in this little adventure. Thanks btw, I get very good feedback from both of you on this stuff because I have neither the time or the resources to test everything.

Re: UConnect 13.19.0 - Unofficial

Just performed the update and messed around with some of the menu's. So far I lost Yelp, but I lost the Uconnect stuff with the last update as well and it restored within the next few hours. I'm glad I didn't lose my presets like last time. I had all my Sirius stations and FM stations set and lost them, but this update kept all that intact. I'll keep an eye out on how it works the next few days, but so far nothing's broke and it seems to run the same.

I think I am a Beta tester ... I just don't remember volunteering for it.

Sno,

On your suggestion I'll give it try, probably tomorrow. But if I need a ride to the beach next week, I'll be counting on you.

Bill, Mine did the same thing the other day with the presets. I thought I grabbed the wrong fob, but it just went crazy. I updated last night and have not a shut down yet or anything funny. I say go for it!

Re: UConnect 13.19.0 - Unofficial

Here is my experience thus far with 14 overland. 8.4AN received direct from manufacture at dealership on 17 June.

Uconnect interface..
either freezes with no response at all but with changes possible only through the hard keys on the console,
will freeze with ability to change between screens but not change functions within screens,
will just restart itself.
sometimes steering wheel controls work, sometimes not.
GPS was off the map

Dealership reset and rebooted without update

problems persisted

Dealership discovered update and performed it now at 13.19.0

Had no problem for 1+ hour ride home but now the system has frozen up just like it was 3 times.

Now dealership is going to call STAR to see what they offer. The service manager told me they may need to replace the whole console.

If there are more updates in the works and this is a software issue, what will replacing the console accomplish?

Are they trying stall tactics. I didnt spend 45+k to have issues like this. I smell lawyer and lemon law unless they get this remedied quick.

Although the truck is beautiful and rides great, this UCONNECT bull will steer me away from a chrysler product in the future and i sure as hell wont recommend it to anyone.

... well just got a call as i was writing this. The dealership is getting a new radio/computer from the manufacturer to install and the service manager "hopes" this fixes it. I even asked her how would new hardware remedy a software issue and she said although it might have the same software interface, the inner programming might be different. I'm calling bull-ship on this one!

If someone can say anything that would restore my confidence, I welcome it!

This is a different system than what was in the 11-13 GC. They are continually working on the system to get it better, you can't fault them for that. If the radio swap works as it should, why question it. Just be happen and move on. So many people are trigger happy to Lemon Law or get a lawyer involved thinking that solves everything, read AMC thread and see how long it took him before anything got done. All of us that ordered the 2014 from the beginning should of known issues might happen and we are the suckers who have to fully test it out. It's and OS system and shit can happen, computers are a great example of things that go right 1 minute and then puke out the next. I'm not saying I'm right on any of this but some people need to chill out a little.

My guess is a radio swap is a very good idea to have done and hopefully will fix your issues. Make sure they check the grounds!

Willx, I have no problem being a beta tester. I do that stuff now at work when asked to, oh the fun of finding bugs in the system..lol

Re: UConnect 13.19.0 - Unofficial

Read in a few posts from Latest. Any time an update is done, the unit will freak out for probably a day afterwards while it tries to update.

Is your unit "Registered" (as in was the last unit Registered)? If I know this I can explain a little more but you may have simply got a bad head unit. That is severe and certainly not the norm for people.

Re: UConnect 13.19.0 - Unofficial

It is registered. Could I have lost registration after the 13.19 update?

It was updated on Monday and I have problems still today.

Uconnect did say that 99% of the time if software problems arent resolved, then the hardware replacement fixes it for good.

Is this really sporadic or are all of these units messed up?

To clarify, i am not going to send chrysler or the dealer a letter if they can fix it and continue to work with me, but I also dont want to accept that since this is a new system I have to deal with it not working. Production and development should have done this and not me. Are they paying me to work out the kinks? NO, i paid them for a quality product which they have yet to deliver in full.

Also, I noticed that when I remote start the Jeep above 80 degrees outside that the cooled seat turns on but it always turns it on low. Maybe by design but I don't know why it wouldn't be on hi since it doesn't push much air anyways.
I have been having this issue regardless of which software has been running. It will not remember those settings. You have to wait until the screen clears and then go into "Controls" I believe this is on the bug list and is something that will be addressed.

OK, just so we are on the same page, I don't work for Chrysler or the UConnect people so you can complain to who ever. Please feel free to ask anyone here on this.

One thing and the reason I asked is that immediately after an upgrade of the Core Components in the UConnect radio, if it is registered, it wants to update the APPS. This is not directly associated but there is a core group of APPS in the installation and once an activated radio connects it wants to do some updating and disable Bing as well as some other things. If the radio is not left on and in a connected state (looses cell connection) the updates fail and it will retry.

I can't appologize becasue I didn't "make" or design anything with the interface but likely the biggest problem is lack of notification that this will take place. Also I don't think the CSRs know this is happening as this is my Personal theory but based on factual testing by myself and other users here.

We simply band together here and try and make it better for members experiences. UConnect in this form is in it's infancy, again not an excuse but the reason why everyone is having problems is that they are trying to make it do EVERYTHING (the programmers that is). It is impossible to take into account every situation with every cell phone and all regional areas. Sounds like you MAY have a hardware issue, however wait until your APPS settle down before panicking. The only users to have massive failures of the head unit, had it replaced and are running the latest version and are pretty darn happy at the moment. There will always be exceptions but I doubt this is catastrophic at this point.

my 6 cents.

Agreed. Some of it is hardware. I put in an RO for a new headunit and that resolved alot of the issues. Some of the newere hardware has different Firmware on it. There will not only be sofrware updates in the future but Firmware updates that will have to be performed by the dealer via WiTech. These will be few and far between but it will adress some of the more "Hardcore Issues" with the radios...
