There was no threat of brakes not working. ABS only engages during a panic stop, and doesn't make the car stop faster. ABS gives you some steering advantages during a panic stop.

At least it sounds like it can be fixed by a software mod. Back in 2003, I hit the brakes hard on my 97 Explorer. The vehicle jumped in the rear and the brake warning light came on with the ABS light. The module had blown. The dealer took three weeks to find a replacement and told me that he thought it must be the last one available in the country. Ford had stopped making them.

I'm pretty sure it is a separate software update, similar to the process of the HVAC and Tranny flash updates.

But I suspect, while they have all the vehicles in, they'll update as much as they can on all items, including the radio to get everyone at a reliable software level. I suspect that is why they are going to wait until November, so they can get there act in order and create an update package for the dealers to handle.

If they play it smart (I know I'm giving them some credit here), they can solve the bulk of their issues and customer complaints by updating all components at this time.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for some logic and reasonableness!

It's not related to Uconnect at all. I think Willx meant the Uconnect update that is coming "may" be delayed so that it can be installed along with the software update to the ABS module in vehs that need both updates. I hope that's not the case! IDK, but the information pipeline up and down at Chrysler is definitely filled with molasses as someone else has stated. I'm still getting the "Chrysler is not replacing any radios at this time" response from my dealer while I see on this forum posts of radios being replaced and ordered almost on a daily basis. Getting fed up and waiting for call from Enhanced Customer Care???

Thats what I figured. I am really just planning for what I need to tell the dealer so I can get a lot of these software updates and TSBs knocked out in one visit.

Random question about 13.19 for @Willix - did it contain any fixes for "Radio Needs Service Message" - this popped up for the first time in 35xx miles yesterday about 20 minutes into my drive. Its come up randomly a couple of times since then ranging from right at start up, to 15 minutes in, to not at all. Quite frankly, I have no real use for the uConnect system and the message doesnt bother me since it pops up and goes away immediately. Anyway I can just deactivate uConnect and go on with my happy self?

Maybe because there are some improvements being made and they are waiting for them to get into cycle? I sort of hope so since I just started getting the "phone needs service" message and most people point to new radio to fix it. Although mine has never given me an issue, never lost presets, nav's all good, etc etc and I am on 13.15...

More to do with how the radio and various modules communicate. Possibly related to the UConnect version but that is not the deciding factor.

So the radio is on the databus.. Along with all other modules.. So if we can flash uconnect updates.. Why the hell can't other modules be flashed by EU as well and save us a trip to dealer??? Or better yet.. Deliver them ota then flash them automatically like 5 minutes after vehicle shutdown? It's 2013... This can't be difficult... So irritating...

Guessing since this is the ABS module it would be a liability if the EU did the update for some reason it didn't function or complete correctly. The shop gives them a control factor and a process that is repeatable, and thus a reason not to allow this type of update be do e by the EU

Guess they figure bricking a radio is less catastrophic which is why we can do it

I just had my speedometer go black and the radio reboot a couple of times about 30 minutes ago. When I got back in the car everything was back to normal.
