There have been reports of a faulty knob on some of the radios. It is a hardware problem which the dealer needs to address and is not related to UConnect updates tmk at this time.

Sorry,

Re: UConnect 13.19.0 - Unofficial

I originally figured this out. It looks to be somewhere around 100 as mine started acting up again around that number. I beilieve it has to do with the fact the system has to download them first before messaging is available much like the phone book. Let me know what you come up with as well.

on a side note... I love these forums, everyone on here is here to help.

I'm going to delete the group conversations first.
Then decrease the number of messages per conversation.
Then decrease the total number of messages (although the previous will do that).
Then delete all.

Hopefully it doesn't take all 4 steps.

Hello everybody.

I'm new to this board, but have read through both the Uconnect update threads and wish to share my own findings and issues--hoping it will help others

For some context:
- 2014 Limited 4x4 with the 8.4A radio (no navigation), purchased on 5/6/14
- Does NOT have Luxury II package.
- I have registered my radio with UConnect.
- Connected peripherals include: 160GB iPod Classic in the front cubby USB, and an iPhone 4S (latest iOS 6.1.3) paired via bluetooth.
-I have installed both the 13.15.0 and the 13.19.0 updates via USB. The installs for both went without a hitch (thanks to the OP for providing the downloads!!!)

My issue is the frequent loss of functionality of the rotary volume knob on the center console. This bug has existed even before both the 13.15.0 and the 13.19.0 software updates. When the car is parked overnight and started in the morning, both of the volume controls work just fine (By both I mean the console knob and the steering wheel volume buttons). However, while I'm driving around and repeatedly parking/restarting over the course of the workday, I lose the ability to control volume with the rotary knob on the console. The steering wheel buttons, however, always work. At day's end, after parking the car in the garage overnight and restarting the car the next morning, everything works fine again.

Was hoping this was a software issue that would be fixed with forthcoming updates (my car had 13.05.0 at the time of delivery), so I haven't taken it to the dealer, but now that I've updated twice I'm not so sure. Since I can still use the steering wheel controls at all time, I've been able to manage.

Hoping anyone else experiencing the same issue may have some insight, since I haven't yet seen this exact issue posted in either of the Uconnect threads by other users.

Thanks all for any help and for a great thread!
I have a similar issue. Sometimes the radio will stay at the set volume while I am turing the knob and then a few minutes later go to 38 (max)to 0 back and forth a few times sort of like its catching up with my turning. I will roll this up but I believe UCE are aware of the issue.

Just tried updating, but it seems my RA2 5 inch unit has the same software version as this (13.12.1).... so I did not proceed. Should I proceed anyways since I'm still having the bluetooth pairing/reconnecting problems?

What is the phone model and software... ?

It can't hurt reloading but lets look at the problem first

jdchamp,

There were a couple of physical knob problems, distortion etc and when the know was played with it would go away. This may be a "soft" issue you guys are discussing but they should know there is a "hard" issues as well on a few units so some diag is required.

OK, likely your vehicle was build after March 23, 2013.... Correct?

Can you better describe what it is doing? Have you needed or tried to delete the pairing from either device and re-pair?

Correct-- it's a brand new Grand Cherokee Laredo 2014, just purchased a few days ago. The bluetooth is finnicky. Paired perfect the first time, next morning didn't connect automatically. Tried deleting the pairing and re-pairing but Uconnect did not show up at all. Then later in the day, it showed up again and I was able to pair. So it's continued to do that and is driving me mad... called Uconnect and they said they are having probs with ios 6.1.4 but they have no timetable on when it would work!!

If they are aware, they are working on it. In the mean time delete the pairing from ***BOTH*** devices. Re-pair but when it asks about phonebook or contacts sharing, deny access. See if that makes it any better. There are some new Chevy/GM Radios I have been working with that are doing very similar things to what you discuss and many of the problems are over phone book. Not a great solution but if this works you will be able to use 90% of the features properly. Please provide feedback.

Thanks,

Re: UConnect 13.19.0 - Unofficial

Applied the 13.19.0 update this evening. Once I started using a good quality, high speed USB thumb drive it ran great. No errors or failures before, just slow cause of my lame old thumb drive I was using first.

All presets came back. All settings stayd, except the surround which had been mentioned that I had to turn back on. Response seemed slightly faster but I did not spend a lot of time with it yet.

I'm not registered with UConnect yet, so I do have Bing in the App list for now. I could not use it though as it could not verify a registration. There were a lot of issues being experienced a couple months ago when people registered their UConnect. Are those cleared up now? I haven't seen many or any updates to that thread recently so have been waiting to register. If it's safe now I'd like to register, but am ok with waiting if it's still causing problems.
