Due to some issues with complaints filed with Mega we have needed to move the software to our Premium Member section. I have left all of the information below for reference should you need to visit your dealer.

I have labeled this as an Unofficial release simply because I do not act as a representative of the provider of the software. I will as usual also caution you that you should *Use this at your own risk* and if you are more comfortable you may visit your Local Dealer and Reference STAR Case # S1308000211 and your dealer will load the software under warranty.

You must know the option code of your radio in order to get the correct update. The following fixes are in this update and specifically in speaking with a team of Sirius Radio engineers deals with some problems that have been reported in the Grand Cherokee. There has been site visits by Sirius XM to dealers in order to verify the Sirius Radio fixes.

Thanks to Milous for providing the fix list:

Primary Enhancements:
Corrects screen wording errors
Corrects HD default to "on" at startup
Navigation performance enhancements
Improved radio response times
Corrects battery drain due to failed radio registration
Corrects Voice recognition would not start correctly
Improved HD radio seek
Corrects Driver’s memory function causes SiriusXM failure
Improved SiriusXM Performance
Corrects radio heated seat controls
System stability improvements
Corrects for “please insert USB” at boot mode
Improved user experience at high ambient temperature
Prevents GPS module failure

Other Fixes:
Corrects loss of vehicle navigation location
Corrects incorrect compass direction
Fixes Lockup and or Shutdown of Touch Screen (RA3/RA4)
Additional behaviour updates directly from customer feedback

*** I have not verified if this has any impact on the Remote Start A/C issues and was told "not likely but not sure" ***

This will be my last post of unreleased software openly to JeepGarage, any future software releases including for other radios etc. will be available to JeepGarage supporters only. If there are Premium Members currently of JeepGarage that are also RAM owners I have posted the 2013 RAM instructions in a Premium Members thread. This is a great community and I personally know that these communities require support. This is my little way of a soft nudge to encourage that.

Unlike the prior release this is universal to either a MAC or PC as it is the RAW file. The instructions will seem very familiar to others who did 13.15.4 but you will see the file is not zipped in this case. Please read and follow the instructions I do not want to answer questions for things listed in the instructions. Please make sure to use a BLANK USB STICK. If you used this stick for the other update MAKE SURE YOU DELETE everything on the stick including the LOG file. I know this update will fit on a smaller memory stick.... DO NOT DO THIS, follow the instructions 1GB is the minimum and there is a reason as there is read/write during the update procedure.

Lastly when you read the instructions you will see that this is a customer authorized update. IF the update fails you can take it to your dealer and please know THIS WILL NOT FIX HARDWARE ISSUES. If there is a hardware issue with your radio this won't fix it and you will still need to have your radio looked at by a CDJ Dealer. I have noted that this fixes Freezing and Restarts of the Touch Screen HOWEVER I also know there were a small number of radios with hardware problems that this update will not fix but if you have these issues it is certainly what the dealer will attempt prior to any radio replacement being ordered.

*** Software Upgrades have been posted to the Premium Members section ***

POST UPGRADE NOTES:

-You may notice in the update process or after the update that "APPS" and or "SETTINGS" are interchangeable. Post update a "Registered" system will revert back to "APPS" once connected for a period of time.
-Shortly after the update is completed on an activated radio it is possible there may be a restart of your system separate from the update as APPS reconnect and or update.
-There appears to be a number of performance updates including to the FOBs detection and association. If you see unusual changes in presets on your radio, check which fob you are using.
-Not all fixes and or upgrades to the software are listed specifically. If you have a concern with a functionality of your radio it may have been addressed but not listed here.

That is either a maps setting or something to do with 3d

I would like to see anybody with concerns about how their air conditioning works with remote start try this update. As noted in my post I don't think that this was fixed but there's also improvements to high temperature user experience. I believe this changes the cooling during hot weather for everyone not just the people who have the problem??

Just did the update. Haven't had time to play with it very much, but a few things I noticed:

Bing is back, Yelp is gone, says it won't work without a connected smartphone.

Got "radio needs service, see dealer" message. Pressed OK, it went away and everything seems to be working. Will watch for its return.

TravelLink weather map renders much quicker than before.

Touchscreen response is faster.

EQ reset to default.

All other personal settings stayed the same.

HD radio is on.

Will have to play with it more when I get time. The update seemed to go smoothly, but the last few steps flew by quickly, and then the "radio needs service" screen came up, and the screen went to the FM radio. I waited a minute or two before it went to the final "compare versions" screen.

It told me update was successful, so for now, I will take the radio's word for it.

So I test drove it after the update and noticed that less streets have names on them. Not sure why. Yes, I changed all the views (2D, North up, 3D). Response is faster. Voice works better. Voice actions are waaaay faster. Navigation is way faster.

Remote start still killed fan when door opens and didn't start it back up after hitting the start button. Had to hit the Auto button to get the A/C fan going again. It was below 80 degree outside but that shouldn't matter for it remembering the settings.

Noticed that voice request for "find nearby restaurants" only shows 6 results with NO scroll bar (same with gas). Also, Travel Link POI restaurants only shows a few pages within a few miles but if you sort by type (say American) then you get many more pages of results. Why not just show all of them?

I am glad these updates are coming fast, but I do wish they would fix the obvious things like remote start/AC issue.

I had the update performed (2014 overland 8.4AN) by a dealership yesterday and was repairing our phones and messing with the interface when it did the "typical" shutdown and restart our of no where. The system was attempting to connect to satelite because I was in my garage but that shouldnt reset the system.

The phones paired and worked well for basic functions. My phonebook wont transfer all contacts and the text message reply never works. Messages received are displayed but alerts for newly recieved messages do not occur.

Anyone with similar issues or possible rememedies?

Not sure if your system has been registered if it is and it doesn't have at least two bars of signal it may do something similar to that but also check and make sure you do actually have the latest version. Also as part of the update the system if needed will restart itself after rearranging apps.

Just spent some time fiddling with the new update. Things I noticed:

Now have Bing and Yelp, both are functional without phone paired. My earlier problem was most likely due to no 3G signal where I was parked.

Map shows in split screen with either radio or media; and with or without nav.
(Is this something I missed before, or is it part of the update?)

Balloon street names are nice, more easily read, but a lot less street names displayed regardless of zoom in or out.

All in all, I feel like it's an improvement. But I wish it would show more street names on the nav map.

I find nothing at all has changed with the climate control, either with remote or standard start-up. This will probably end up being a dealer installed update. (And I hope it's sooner than later, the temps are starting to climb here.)

Checked another Jeep prior and post upgrade. The bubble names are there in both versions for the NAV (very similar to the new Garmin Standard). In the updated if you zoom down it gives you all street names in view, if you zoom out it gives you less. If you touch the screen on the map it gives you the old style GPS names on every street detail.

I didn't get a chance to test everything but very quick now (from 13.15.4).

I just installed the update. Haven't really played with it much but no issues on install. While it was installing ran out to Radio Shack to pickup a 32GB SD Card. Figured it was time to give that a whirl. One thing I did notice as others did is the presence of Bing and Yelp. I was the OP that was having issues with the Blind Spot Monitoring. I thought it was a radio issue and actually was able to call the engineers and put in an RO for a Radio. It was changed Monday, the problem went away but today on my way home from work it came back. Well see what happens with the update.

I'm quite involved with uConnect and have been able to beta test a lot of the apps and I can tell you viaMobile is well worth the wait. Works great. There is also another software update being worked on as we speak to allow for even more app integration with Blackberry OS10 devices and the potential cross integration with Android apps through OS10. Really cool stuff down the pipe. Maybe I'll do what Willx was thinking and throw some of the info into the Premium Members area. Stay tuned...

Thanks jdchamp,

Makes sense, knew there was some QNX stuff in there, so that ties it together. I have continued to tell people that the development has been super fast but it is nice to get confirmation on that for someone closer than myself.

On the BlindSpot, that is still a module and not totally in the radio but the dealers are still figuring this stuff out.

Yeah the integration is going to open up a whole new world to Carmatics. You guys are going to see stuff that has never been done with InCarmatic systems. And QNX is a great base to build off of because of its security and stability. For those of you who don't know what QNX is, it's a Linux based kernel that was developed by a consortium leaded by Blackberry. It allows for cross integration with Android as well as development on new mobile platforms in the pipe for software developers. IMO it's a great system to have as a base and leads to endless possibilities. Great stuff coming and for those of you having problems each update is fixing things way beyond the 15 bullet point change log and laying the ground for new stuff. Don't get discouraged but remember some people may be having legitimate hardware issues and may need to address that as well.

Upgraded from 13.15.4 to 13.19.0 and so far so good. No issues at all. Things overall seem a little bit faster but I'm not really seeing much of a difference.

Initially had Bing and Yelp installed but after quick trip to a grocery story BING disappeared. I would imagine there is some post installation auto update going on as well.

UConnect is fantastic. Going forward I'm not entirely sure if I can buy a car w/o it. Started looking at Dodge Dart as I will need two replace my other car with something smaller soon to get around the city.

I did not get any errors in my installation. I did install it twice.

The first time it went on smoothly. The music apps showed up. Bing and Yelp co-existed. But I could not connect to UConnect Store Registration and the clock was off. In fact the clock could not be set up - either by GPS sync or manually - the +/- buttons changed the time in increments of 4 hours.

The second time also ran smoothly. I ran the update again and now everything is fine - UConnect store shows my registration; Bing is gone; the music apps are gone...and nothing has changed. Except the version number. I see no improvement so far.

My update completed. No other issues noticed. I poked around at the weather and fuel prices in the travel app and it was able to grab the right data.

I downloaded the upgrade to the same USB that I used for the last update and when I put it in the vehicles USB, it blinks a few times, but nothing happens. And yes I first formatted the USB prior to placing the latest update on it.

What did I miss?

#83 ·
Have your door Open and make sure you wait the full minute before putting the vehicle in "RUN" Mode. Insert the USB with everything off, keeping your foot off the brake pedal press the Start button twice until it says run (no engine running). There is a slight delay while it validates the file, then it should ask you about the update.

I had one that didn't do it the first time. I locked the vehicle doors closed and then started over again and it was fine.

Update went fine for me. Only had to reconfigure the EQ and turn HD radio back on.

Forgot to mention...In addition to the above, Surround Sound needed to be re-enabled.

Last night driving home from work HD radio was only working for AM stations and not FM stations. The HD was working this morning though...so not sure why all the FM stations didn't have HD yesterday afternoon. I don't think this is / was an issue with UConnect though.

Another thing I noticed was that Nav loads extremely fast in comparison to the previous versions...
