Re: UConnect 13.19.0 - Unofficial

Willx, what do think?
My 13.19 install experience went like this-followed instructions and half way through @ about 50% complete on the install progress the screen switched to the radio screen with the last station playing the EVIC also came up. Radio touch screen controls non-operable. Waited about 5 min in that condition to see if progress screen would return. Nope. Went to settings to check version and screen shown in 4.8 of instructions came up. "The update image is valid and ready for installation. Do you want to update MASTER sw from 13.19.0 to 13.19.0?"
I selected no and completed the instructions. 13.19.0 shows as the installed version and everything seems to be working correctly so far. Had to set up the audio again and select various items in settings again but radio retained all presets and favs in Sirius. Haven't checked the nav yet.

I would run with it as is and see what it does (keep the key with you)

If it causes you any grief at all run the update again. I just needed to reinstall 13.19.0 on a factory install to get VR working properly.

Frankly a tech can verify if your complaint matches the version of the module and complaint. I noted to some people a while back HVAC was getting an update.
Yea... Figured I'd just wait until first oil change and have them check/do updates... Got my summit back in march so figure there will be several updates available by the time I take it in the first time. I don't have any major complaints though... Maybe I got lucky but I haven't had any issues with mine so far.. Knock on wood. I did have mil come on about 2 weeks after I got it and code was for egr system slow leak.. But I reseated several harnesses, cleared code and haven't had a problem since.

Perhaps using Windows as an example of a product that got a bad rap initially only to have it improved isn't the *best* analogy.

Just started up the Jeep again to go to work. Volume from the Uconnect system still isn't working. Tested out voice command, Sirius, iPod, etc. and no noise is coming from the speakers. This is frustrating because everything was working great until late in the evening yesterday. I'm thinking about disconnecting the battery to try and restart the Jeep. I just don't want to have to take it into the dealer for this one problem. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Willix,

today is my big day.

I was able to pick up my new Summit Diesel.

On my 8.4AN is the 13.15.4 installed... are you sure, that your Update-file is not allowed for the Europe Version?

Btw. The Diesel is runnig very nice and smooth.

Sounds like the Amplifier is off. If the head unit appears to function normally but there is no audio, I would see if you have blown a fuse. I believe the Alpine models have the Amp in the rear quarter of the Drivers side (totally from memory) but start by checking fuses. As I mentioned there have been reports of knobs that caused distortion so it is possible that your control has gone completely dead. This is definitely the only time I have heard of this issue though so there is something a little different going on here.

Other than that, when it gets into hardware issues, I think the dealer is still best, no point in your ripping appart your vehicle when maybe a STAR Mobile can see the problem. Last suggestion and only because of my wildcard VR experience recently is that you try reloading your software. Now that is a shot in the dark but is a simple 10 minute job so worth trying.

Congrats, a small amount of jealousy wells inside of me

All I can tell you is the updates were marked "NAFTA" and I am not in with the UConnect folks to the level that I could ask them if it would work overseas. Certainly there has been software in the past that has been shared between multiple regional areas so it is possible this update is marked NAFTA because of the included languages in the instructions etc. I have no doubts it will work, just not sure if there will be any bugs from customizations (Likely SiriusXM is one of these) but your radio likely reports to the software the module absence.

13.15.4 was actually a very stable release with good performance in most apps. People going from 13.05 to 13.19.0 would feel like they got a new radio when it came to NAV and some other features. Frankly the JGC Limited I had played with, I had no reason to update it from 13.15.4 to 13.19.0 other than to test the differences and see if known issues were addressed.

There are bigger more important updates coming so unless you are interested in experimenting, I would wait. I am a little curous as to whether we can wind these updates back but I cannot experiment with dealer inventory or demos to try this, they wouldn't be impressed if I broke a stock unit.

Yeah the head unit is working fine. There's just no noise coming from the speakers. I'll try to reinstall the update to see if it fixed it. I read your thread on the VR, so it may work for this as well. I'll let you know if it works. If I were to check the fuses for the radio where would they be? It's an overland if that makes any difference. Thanks a lot for your help!
