Due to some issues with complaints filed with Mega we have needed to move the software to our Premium Member section. I have left all of the information below for reference should you need to visit your dealer.

I have labeled this as an Unofficial release simply because I do not act as a representative of the provider of the software. I will as usual also caution you that you should *Use this at your own risk* and if you are more comfortable you may visit your Local Dealer and Reference STAR Case # S1308000211 and your dealer will load the software under warranty.

You must know the option code of your radio in order to get the correct update. The following fixes are in this update and specifically in speaking with a team of Sirius Radio engineers deals with some problems that have been reported in the Grand Cherokee. There has been site visits by Sirius XM to dealers in order to verify the Sirius Radio fixes.

Thanks to Milous for providing the fix list:

Primary Enhancements:
Corrects screen wording errors
Corrects HD default to "on" at startup
Navigation performance enhancements
Improved radio response times
Corrects battery drain due to failed radio registration
Corrects Voice recognition would not start correctly
Improved HD radio seek
Corrects Driver’s memory function causes SiriusXM failure
Improved SiriusXM Performance
Corrects radio heated seat controls
System stability improvements
Corrects for “please insert USB” at boot mode
Improved user experience at high ambient temperature
Prevents GPS module failure

Other Fixes:
Corrects loss of vehicle navigation location
Corrects incorrect compass direction
Fixes Lockup and or Shutdown of Touch Screen (RA3/RA4)
Additional behaviour updates directly from customer feedback

*** I have not verified if this has any impact on the Remote Start A/C issues and was told "not likely but not sure" ***

This will be my last post of unreleased software openly to JeepGarage, any future software releases including for other radios etc. will be available to JeepGarage supporters only. If there are Premium Members currently of JeepGarage that are also RAM owners I have posted the 2013 RAM instructions in a Premium Members thread. This is a great community and I personally know that these communities require support. This is my little way of a soft nudge to encourage that.

Unlike the prior release this is universal to either a MAC or PC as it is the RAW file. The instructions will seem very familiar to others who did 13.15.4 but you will see the file is not zipped in this case. Please read and follow the instructions I do not want to answer questions for things listed in the instructions. Please make sure to use a BLANK USB STICK. If you used this stick for the other update MAKE SURE YOU DELETE everything on the stick including the LOG file. I know this update will fit on a smaller memory stick.... DO NOT DO THIS, follow the instructions 1GB is the minimum and there is a reason as there is read/write during the update procedure.

Lastly when you read the instructions you will see that this is a customer authorized update. IF the update fails you can take it to your dealer and please know THIS WILL NOT FIX HARDWARE ISSUES. If there is a hardware issue with your radio this won't fix it and you will still need to have your radio looked at by a CDJ Dealer. I have noted that this fixes Freezing and Restarts of the Touch Screen HOWEVER I also know there were a small number of radios with hardware problems that this update will not fix but if you have these issues it is certainly what the dealer will attempt prior to any radio replacement being ordered.

*** Software Upgrades have been posted to the Premium Members section ***

POST UPGRADE NOTES:

-You may notice in the update process or after the update that "APPS" and or "SETTINGS" are interchangeable. Post update a "Registered" system will revert back to "APPS" once connected for a period of time.
-Shortly after the update is completed on an activated radio it is possible there may be a restart of your system separate from the update as APPS reconnect and or update.
-There appears to be a number of performance updates including to the FOBs detection and association. If you see unusual changes in presets on your radio, check which fob you are using.
-Not all fixes and or upgrades to the software are listed specifically. If you have a concern with a functionality of your radio it may have been addressed but not listed here.

Hmmm... may have been a freak thing once. or there has always been a hardware problem?

I want to make sure everyone knows this, if there is a hardware issue in your radio it is more likely with the updates that it will better identify this issue than before. The software updates cannot affect hardware in the radio negatively (I don't think) but they may flush out problems that already existed.

Thanks for posting the update. Did mine from 13.15.04 to 13.19.0 last night. Definitely more responsive overall. However, I lost my speedometer graphics in the instrument cluster - I have the needle, but no numbers. Don't know if this is another GC electronic quirk or related to the update. I shut off and restarted when I got to work, but still no display. Ran out of time to wait for it to completely power off. If it doesn't work on the ride home tonight, I'll reflash again. I'll let you know of the result.

Willx - let me start off by saying "Thanks!"

I had 13.05 (yes, OLD!) and just upgraded to the 13.19. I have actually been fairly happy with the original, hence the delay in upgrade. My only problems were:
- Recognizing Nav input via text was bad enough I never used it; I would pull over to enter addresses.
- Text messaging readout and text via Voice were sporadic at best.

My upgrade experience was similar to Bill's - everything upgraded without issue but on the first reboot I got the service 911 message. I have not seen it since. It did freeze @40% on the Sierra piece for a good 3-4 minutes, but kept going and didn't require me to reinsert the USB.

The screens are definitely more responsive. Other than that I don't see much change in the overall functionality from what I had.

My notes:
1. Text messaging was very, very sporadic and doesn't work at all at this point. This had quit working on 13.05 and remains the same now. I have a Galaxy S4 that worked fine for a bit, but now the message screen is blank. Based on other posts, I'll whack the history and see where that gets me. (I actually had a hunch that it was either a. the number of messages, or b: group messages that killed it).
2. My seat ventilation comes on 'Lo' when I get in. It would be nice if the order was changed from "Hi->Lo->Off" to "Lo->Hi->Off" so I don't have to hit the button twice if I want to increase it. If I caught your latest remarks though, we should understand that this is in the firmware and not software though?
3. HD Radio sub-channels stop playback when you tune to them directly. In other words, on the old system, if I was on 94.5.1 and hit my preset to 95.7.2, the radio would actually tune to 95.7.1 immediately and then 'fade' into 95.7.2 once the HD buffer filled after 1-2 seconds. Now, that 1-2 seconds is filled with silence. Not sure if I care, just was something immediately noticed.
4. EQ was reset. It appears that all other personal settings/presets are there.

If there is a way help beta test, I'd be more than happy to do it. Hell, I'd be happy to help them develop pieces - can we open source it?:lol:

Lankness,

For what it's worth, I cleared out my messages yesterday while at work on my Galaxy S3 and on the way home the messaging options worked flawlessly. I haven't updated to the 13.19 yet. I will tonight.

Yea, I'm going to test that at lunch. I'm going to do it in iterations though and see if I can get some more insight as to 'why.'

I'm going to delete the group conversations first.
Then decrease the number of messages per conversation.
Then decrease the total number of messages (although the previous will do that).
Then delete all.

Hopefully it doesn't take all 4 steps.

I updated about an hour ago. I drove a short distance to Lowes and back with no changes that I noticed. I did have to reset the EQ, Sirous presets, and display in cluster. Two of three had to be reset before the update, so nothing changed there. I did have to turn HD on ... that had always been on up until this update. Apps still said apps, but forgot to check to see what was there.

After my update to 13.19.0 a couple of days ago I never lost the Sirius presets; didn't have any presets on AM/FM/HD, so can't say if those stayed or not. I did have both Bing and Yelp after the update, and both worked, but as of last night Bing is gone again. Bummer; Yelp is pretty much useless.

#164 ·
Knock on wood I have had no issues to date worth trying the upgrade now that my text messages work. I'm reading too many reasons Not to update so I think I'll wait this one out.

Did notice from someone previously posted why the seat comes on at low makes no sense. Granted I didn't even realize it and didn't think it wasn't working well so no big deal. With temps climbing to 118 all weekend I'll try to spot a difference with low v high.

I had a good hour drive with the new update and I've noticed the sat radio cutting out much more often now then it has in the past. I only had 1 dead zone I would run into and now on my way into work this morning, I had 4 spots I lost reception. Other than that, everything else seems to be working. The HD option doesn't stay on and hasn't since the last update and I still can't get the fuel saver mode to stay checked. I see no difference in the system response and touch screen response and it reads the SD card at the same speed as previous. I'll keep an eye out, but so far this has been a slight downgrade due to the sat radio issue.

@shewstring: I also had the speedometer without numbers, but that was pre- 13.15.4. That update fixed that aswell as reduced the number of reboots. I did also get the service 911 after installing 13.19.0 but haven't seen it since. Did experience some of the freezing but my system is registered so it sounds like this was to be expected. Took it for a 45-60min drive around after the update and things seem to have improved (knock on wood) with this latest update. Just wanted to thank everybody in this forum for the level of technical knowledge and sharing that info with us.

Irish, tonight when I drove home, the speedo was back to normal. I do agree the response is much faster on 19 vs. 15.4. I have Yelp as my search application after the update, had Bing before. Can't say I found either overally useful via voice commands.

Hello everybody.

I'm new to this board, but have read through both the Uconnect update threads and wish to share my own findings and issues--hoping it will help others

For some context:
- 2014 Limited 4x4 with the 8.4A radio (no navigation), purchased on 5/6/14
- Does NOT have Luxury II package.
- I have registered my radio with UConnect.
- Connected peripherals include: 160GB iPod Classic in the front cubby USB, and an iPhone 4S (latest iOS 6.1.3) paired via bluetooth.
-I have installed both the 13.15.0 and the 13.19.0 updates via USB. The installs for both went without a hitch (thanks to the OP for providing the downloads!!!)

My issue is the frequent loss of functionality of the rotary volume knob on the center console. This bug has existed even before both the 13.15.0 and the 13.19.0 software updates. When the car is parked overnight and started in the morning, both of the volume controls work just fine (By both I mean the console knob and the steering wheel volume buttons). However, while I'm driving around and repeatedly parking/restarting over the course of the workday, I lose the ability to control volume with the rotary knob on the console. The steering wheel buttons, however, always work. At day's end, after parking the car in the garage overnight and restarting the car the next morning, everything works fine again.

Was hoping this was a software issue that would be fixed with forthcoming updates (my car had 13.05.0 at the time of delivery), so I haven't taken it to the dealer, but now that I've updated twice I'm not so sure. Since I can still use the steering wheel controls at all time, I've been able to manage.

Hoping anyone else experiencing the same issue may have some insight, since I haven't yet seen this exact issue posted in either of the Uconnect threads by other users.

Thanks all for any help and for a great thread!

I have a similar issue. Sometimes the radio will stay at the set volume while I am turing the knob and then a few minutes later go to 38 (max)to 0 back and forth a few times sort of like its catching up with my turning. I will roll this up but I believe UCE are aware of the issue.

Applied the 13.19.0 update this evening. Once I started using a good quality, high speed USB thumb drive it ran great. No errors or failures before, just slow cause of my lame old thumb drive I was using first.

All presets came back. All settings stayd, except the surround which had been mentioned that I had to turn back on. Response seemed slightly faster but I did not spend a lot of time with it yet.

I'm not registered with UConnect yet, so I do have Bing in the App list for now. I could not use it though as it could not verify a registration. There were a lot of issues being experienced a couple months ago when people registered their UConnect. Are those cleared up now? I haven't seen many or any updates to that thread recently so have been waiting to register. If it's safe now I'd like to register, but am ok with waiting if it's still causing problems.

I just ran this update on my new 2014 JGC Overland and it actually showed up the new via mobile apps (slacker radio, pandora, etc.) I clicked the pandora app, but it said it needed to connect via a valid account. I already set it up on the uconnect mopar site with my username and password for my Pandora ONE account. Has ANYONE else gotten it to work via mobile? BIG THANKS to the OP!! YOU ARE THE MAN!!!

So I updated to the 13.19.0 without issue. Seems slightly faster response exchange between icons on the uconnect screen. I have noticed two things that I'd like to ask you guys:

1. is there supposed to be a blue LED ring around the USB and SD card ports? If so, mine have never worked...

2. I notice the Jeep icon on my nav look larger than the other vehicle icons... to include the halo color has lines through it and the halo color itself does not always switch between white and black when the nav goes from daylight to nighttime driving. The other icons work fine.

Anyone else notice these?

Updated mine last night, no major changes IMO. Bluetooth audio still randomly skipping on my gn2. As far as folks with ac/remote start issues, I wouldn't expect any updates for the radio to fix this. I'm no expert, but I suspect the radio is a mere proxy relying messages to/from other modules/controllers in the car via the data bus.. There are probably at least 50 different modules/controllers in a summit for example, all with their own firmware and therefore buggy issues. These modules can only be updated at dealer with a witech scanner by a tech that will likely argue with you when you ask them to apply any avail code updates... I long for the day when the end user can do their own updates ... But since that would keep chryco from getting $4000 for witech hardware plus subscription fees, I doubt it will happen. Meh..

Libby,

You are correct, actually dead on except it is usually around a dozen modules or so. Chrysler's WiTech is actually one of the nicer programming systems, it gives you an overview of all modules in the vehicle and which ones are out of date. It even can tell you on a click what each update does.

Frankly a tech can verify if your complaint matches the version of the module and complaint. I noted to some people a while back HVAC was getting an update.

#231 ·
Yea... Figured I'd just wait until first oil change and have them check/do updates... Got my summit back in march so figure there will be several updates available by the time I take it in the first time. I don't have any major complaints though... Maybe I got lucky but I haven't had any issues with mine so far.. Knock on wood. I did have mil come on about 2 weeks after I got it and code was for egr system slow leak.. But I reseated several harnesses, cleared code and haven't had a problem since.

Just to follow-on with the text messaging:

I first deleted the MMS messages - no luck.

Then I started decreasing the number of messages per conversation that the phone would hold - it was set to 200 per and I had well over 1000. I went to 100, then to 50, then to 45, 40, 35, 30, 25. Once I hit 25 the system downloaded 127 messages and started reading those that I received. I still am not able to send any at this point... Everything seems to work, but no messages leave the vehicle. I'll try going even lower tomorrow.

One quirk with the voice recognition on texts:
When I am over the limit - (maybe 150 downloaded?) - it will not read back a text I have voiced. In other words, I say 'send message to wife mobile', the system asks for the message, I say 'what do you want for dinner?', then the system freezes for ~60 seconds. Typically at this point it reads your message back to you and asks if you want to add/start over/send, but instead it just skips to the question. If I say send it disappears.

This is a really odd occurrence though - I do a lot of business through my phone and I shouldn't have to limit history. One would think that the developers could grab the latest 20, 50, whatever number, and just download them to the UConnect. I don't need to see all of them in the vehicle screen...I just want to get the latest read to me and be able to reply.

Lankness, just so I am clear: You have a Samsung Galaxy S4 on Verizon? Also, you're saying it was able to both read incoming texts and allow you to free voice create texts through the Uconnect system once you reduced the number of texts in your phone memory to 25?

One more question, does everything else on your S4 phone work fine via Bluetooth? I've read on here that some of these phones skip a lot or have other quirks when using with Uconnect.

The only thing my iPhone cannot do is reply to texts. everything else works beautifully, but I do find myself wishing I could reply to texts using uconnect.

My iPhone even shows the Metafile information via Bluetooth on the music that I stream via iTunes and slacker. Both the titles/artists/albums show on the screen which is wonderful. If only I could get the text reply to work with uconnect. I know siri works, but I don't want to keep taking my phone out of my pocket when I need to send a text.

Ha! I've done my fair share of development and quality assurance (i.e. - breaking things). The engineer in me can take over and get really detailed at times. (Ok, all the time :))

Another confirmed issue with vented seat fan speed. Coming home last night from a Jeep customer appreciation event (free food, door prizes worth hundreds of $$, demo where they fired off an air bag...) I started the Jeep and set both seats to HI on the startup welcome screen. Then after driving a few miles I noticed that the driver seat was on LO and the passenger seat was still on HI. This only appears to be an issue when setting the vented seat settings on the welcome/boot up screen.

Just mentioning this so others can watch for that and maybe a fix is coming in the next software update. :)

This is a VERIFIED Bug, The system asseses the temperature and then decides in needs level 1 vent after completion of start up on the Radio. If you set if before it is done doing its thing it will set it to low. If you wait 30 seconds after start up it seems to be ok.
