Due to some issues with complaints filed with Mega we have needed to move the software to our Premium Member section. I have left all of the information below for reference should you need to visit your dealer.

I have labeled this as an Unofficial release simply because I do not act as a representative of the provider of the software. I will as usual also caution you that you should *Use this at your own risk* and if you are more comfortable you may visit your Local Dealer and Reference STAR Case # S1308000211 and your dealer will load the software under warranty.

You must know the option code of your radio in order to get the correct update. The following fixes are in this update and specifically in speaking with a team of Sirius Radio engineers deals with some problems that have been reported in the Grand Cherokee. There has been site visits by Sirius XM to dealers in order to verify the Sirius Radio fixes.

Thanks to Milous for providing the fix list:

Primary Enhancements:
Corrects screen wording errors
Corrects HD default to "on" at startup
Navigation performance enhancements
Improved radio response times
Corrects battery drain due to failed radio registration
Corrects Voice recognition would not start correctly
Improved HD radio seek
Corrects Driver’s memory function causes SiriusXM failure
Improved SiriusXM Performance
Corrects radio heated seat controls
System stability improvements
Corrects for “please insert USB” at boot mode
Improved user experience at high ambient temperature
Prevents GPS module failure

Other Fixes:
Corrects loss of vehicle navigation location
Corrects incorrect compass direction
Fixes Lockup and or Shutdown of Touch Screen (RA3/RA4)
Additional behaviour updates directly from customer feedback

*** I have not verified if this has any impact on the Remote Start A/C issues and was told "not likely but not sure" ***

This will be my last post of unreleased software openly to JeepGarage, any future software releases including for other radios etc. will be available to JeepGarage supporters only. If there are Premium Members currently of JeepGarage that are also RAM owners I have posted the 2013 RAM instructions in a Premium Members thread. This is a great community and I personally know that these communities require support. This is my little way of a soft nudge to encourage that.

Unlike the prior release this is universal to either a MAC or PC as it is the RAW file. The instructions will seem very familiar to others who did 13.15.4 but you will see the file is not zipped in this case. Please read and follow the instructions I do not want to answer questions for things listed in the instructions. Please make sure to use a BLANK USB STICK. If you used this stick for the other update MAKE SURE YOU DELETE everything on the stick including the LOG file. I know this update will fit on a smaller memory stick.... DO NOT DO THIS, follow the instructions 1GB is the minimum and there is a reason as there is read/write during the update procedure.

Lastly when you read the instructions you will see that this is a customer authorized update. IF the update fails you can take it to your dealer and please know THIS WILL NOT FIX HARDWARE ISSUES. If there is a hardware issue with your radio this won't fix it and you will still need to have your radio looked at by a CDJ Dealer. I have noted that this fixes Freezing and Restarts of the Touch Screen HOWEVER I also know there were a small number of radios with hardware problems that this update will not fix but if you have these issues it is certainly what the dealer will attempt prior to any radio replacement being ordered.

*** Software Upgrades have been posted to the Premium Members section ***

POST UPGRADE NOTES:

-You may notice in the update process or after the update that "APPS" and or "SETTINGS" are interchangeable. Post update a "Registered" system will revert back to "APPS" once connected for a period of time.
-Shortly after the update is completed on an activated radio it is possible there may be a restart of your system separate from the update as APPS reconnect and or update.
-There appears to be a number of performance updates including to the FOBs detection and association. If you see unusual changes in presets on your radio, check which fob you are using.
-Not all fixes and or upgrades to the software are listed specifically. If you have a concern with a functionality of your radio it may have been addressed but not listed here.

I had problems 2 days after getting my 14 overland. I had the dealer check it out and they "thought" they fixed it (lock-up, restarts, black screen, loss of function control). I received a call 4 days ago from the dealer saying they had the update. Uconnect service on the phone said there was no update!

I was having problems within 1 hour of drive time, and sometimes as soon as 2-3 minutes after startup. I had a 1:15 ride home from the dealership without the prior issues and definitely a more responsive system. Only problem was my phone (android) wasnt connecting. Prior to the update, I had no phone issues. (I will delete and reconnect my phone tomorrow).

Just finished and 20 mininute test drive. no issue yet.1. The touch screen is more accurate. 2. Navigation is way faster. 3. "Off road recalculation" displays in a instrument panel when recalculating route. ** Important Tip ** use a quality USB drive. if you have two or more USB drive, copy and prepare extra USB drive. If you fail during the update, you must finish the update procedure using another USB drive at the time. First time I use very cheap 1GB USB, update fail and Uconnect/3G is disable and no GPS clock. I tried with Sandisk 2GB USB drive, the update procedure is two~three times faster and everything is fine.

You mean iOS 6, right? iOS 7 won't be released until the fall. And until Apple changes its Bluetooth implementation in iOS you'll never be able to reply to a text message via the RA systems in Jeeps - it's not a hardware thing, it's a missing feature in iOS. I'm running iPhone 5 with iOS 6 and I've been able to view and have incoming text messages read aloud via my RA4/nav since I picked up my Jeep in February. You can reply to text messages via Siri on the iPhone, however.

How much in advance of the official release is this ?

When I go through the official channels and search for an update, I get this:

https://rsur.extra.chrysler.com/rsur/Uconnect.do
There are no updates available for your 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED X 4X4 equipped with the Uconnect 8.4AN AM/FM/BT/Access/NAV radio

Is there a reason why it is not available yet on the official release channel? I s this the final release, is it an unofficial Beta or is it Chrysler trying to be Microsoft and generally only provide updates every 2nd Tuesday of the month? I have 13.15.4 loaded up in my Jeep right now.

This is the same as the official release. This is not Beta, this is Production. There will be future releases but this particular update has been delivered to your local dealer with the STAR Case noted for immediate load on all 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees due to concerns submitted to Chrysler.

The availability of ANY update on the UConnect site is unknown at this time. During the last round of updates, there were so many customers trying to get it, it caused failures on the site. Chrysler is presently working on updating their software delivery system to offer "almost unlimited" capacity. There will be ongoing future enhancements upgrades and added features in the Future for all 8.4A and 8.4AN systems. It is being designed to be an end user friendly update system. I will keep everyone up to date where I can but as far as timing I cannot rely on what I am told hence my over shoot on the delivery time for this update when I posted about it a week ago.

They are using the same published schedule for the UConnect upgrade as the EcoDiesel at this time

All-
Good morning. This is my first post, and you can tell by my screen name, this is my first Jeep. I love it. I currently am running 13.10 and read thru all the 60+ pages of the software update on the other thread. I have never did the upgrade b/c I am not able to confirm the important 'blue halo' first step, b/c it does not illuminate. And didnt want to mess anything up b/c i do not live close to a dealer and work crazy hours. I saw that another person had this issue as well but didnt notice an answer. Is this really that important for this upgrade as well b/c I would like to update the software.

Like many others, the website and phone support has always told me, there are no updates available.

Thank you for all the great information.

Ignore the blue halo part of the instructions as it was not correct for my Jeep. The updates work perfectly. Just update your Jeep and enjoy the fixes.

Willx.....Your the UConnect Freak!! Keeping us all informed and up to date on the software front. I think it is great that you want to make this stuff more of a "member only" or "paid member" as this is valuable information.

I'm doing it now and will be updating this morning while at work..

Thanks,

I have some other stuff around. I need to get Scott to put an appropriate place in the Premium Members VIP to place the stuff. It shouldn't be open and available for search on the web and that is my primary reason for not open posting in the near future. No restrictions though it should be available to a Level 1

As mentioned though I think there is added value to the Premium Members and I like that idea.

thanks for everything willix, you know more about uconnect then the people that work at uconnect. i've got an appt. for my jeep on saturday for a few issues, and i'll have the dealership update the uconnect at that time, i'm technologically challenged at times, and maybe my hvac will turn on with remote start

Hello,
Can you tell me the date that this update was first available? My jeep was made on Saturday June 22, 2013 and just wondering if I am going to have to load this update when I pick it up this weekend. Or is it better to make the dealership do it?

#25 ·
This update has been in Production for 3 weeks give or take. If it was actually produced on the 22nd it must have been air mailed! or you live very close to Marlon.

If it was produced any time after the first week of June it almost definitely has the update but you can easily check via the information menu in the radio. You may wish to write down the STAR Case number in post one if it is a smaller dealer because they won't know about this yet (it happens).

Another question about the 8.4 Navigation (maybe not directly with the Update):

Does anybody of you already tried to load personal POIs by the Garmin Poi-Loader?

Nobody wrote something about that in the near history, but would be very interesting to know - does it work or not.

I have tried and failed. I contacted Garmin directly and they told me to use the POI Loader, save it to a memory stick and upload using the directions they sent me. Everything was done correctly from the POI Loader and saved, but the USB stick was not recognized. Even if it had been, the directions state to go to "where to", "extras", "custom POI's." I didnt have any icon in my NAV that had custom POI's. I called them back and they were very helpful and said that they are escalating it up and will contact me within a week to let me know the status. Hope that helps.

#26 ·
You can't load POIs into the nav. The best you can do is add individual points as favorites.

Just did this update and wow, voice commands are twice as fast and accurate. :) I did get the 911 radio needs service error but after a few engine restarts, it went away. All appears to be good.

Thanks!

I did the update. It seemed to go fine until it was updating 11/12 and the unit rebooted. It acts like the 13.19.0 is installed, just wondering if that 12th module was pretty small and the screen didn't update before it completed. Things seem to be working correctly, although I did lose my EQ settings. The nav maps look quite a bit different with how the streets are labeled.

#30 ·
Mine did the same thing. All previous updates have also cleared my EQ settings. I think you are good to go. Yep, maps look quite a bit different to me too.

#36 ·
Not sure yet. I only looked at them for 10 seconds and then had to leave. I'll drive it later today and see. So far, the maps looked like they had less detail and were flatter. They just didn't look familiar when they came up. Again, I only looked at them for 10 seconds but they didn't look the same/familiar.
