Ask your service adviser if the radio has a purple dot or blue dot he should know about the dot if he read through the many pages of the star case. So my service adviser says. Like I posted earlier in this thread I think blue dot means new purple old but it may be reversed I forget what he said exactly will find out soon... maybe Willx knows the details.

I also never had the "phone needs service" message until I updated to 13.19. Saw it when the radio was rebooting. That was June 25th. Saw it for the second time today when I started the vehicle this morning. It's on my list of things for my first service visit now. By the way, very short list.

I watched Willx's video about remote start....still left with questions.


When I leave my work and start my car from inside the building...I want the A/C to be ON and the seats cooling.

HOW DO I DO THAT????

Can you find out if radio replacement also involves replacing the LCD screen? I read where the actual radio isn't located behind the LCD screen. Just wondering what parts have to be removed to change the radio.

I guess I'm in a lost spot and not sure exactly what to do. When I originally got the Jeep (.5 software), I got alot of reboots. Upgrading to 13.19, I haven't gotten any reboots but the "service phone" and the "unregistered" when trying UConnect Assistance. They supposedly pushed something to my radio and it works now, sometimes if I hit the button. Tonight on my way to go to a dive training, I was trying to play my SD card and it wouldn't. I tried everything I could but no luck. When I got home, I confirmed there was music still on the card. I reformatted it and tested again...Still nothing.

I guess I need to call the dealer and get a new radio?? Willx, your thoughts?

There is going to be a big learning curve in the next few weeks.

They will realize how many units are not corrected by the update... just to remind you guys, you are presently ahead of an intermediate rep on the learning curve with this stuff.

Good question. One reason I don't want a new radio is that I don't want them messing with the dash.

The star case specifically tells them how to translate a number on the radio to a Julian date code to verify. It is clearly labeled in each line of the star case to view the date code information.

Really to sum it up for everyone... the 13.19.0 software is very good. It also diagnoses problems with hardware components (included but not limited to the sierra card).

The card always had a problem if 13.19.0 is saying it has a problem now. I see a lot of people saying "my radio is running great except for my service phone error"... this is because the software fixed a great deal of software problems but if there is a hardware problem with the radio then it is still a hardware problem.

***Again, you can fix on your own schedule but the main reason it tells you is because the emergency services function may not function as desired in an incident * * *

BTW, how was your diving trip? I love diving!!

In most cases, the Julian date code is a series of .
four numbers. These numbers tell the day and the year. Julian codes start with the number of days that have passed since January 1st. For example, July 12, 2000 would be read as 0193, whereas 0 is the year, and 193 is the Julian date for July 12th, as it is the 193rd day of the year.

Ok, I think it's time I call the dealer (tomorrow Morning) and tell them about the Star case and the issues I have been having.

Dive was good tonight, just the the peak bouyance tonight. Then I followed a "seasoned" guy around, watched him panic and basically look like someone who has no clue what he is doing as I was laughing to myself.
