Re: UConnect 13.38.52

I'm one week into my ownership of the JGC and loving it so far. I had problems downloading the update and called uConnect. Very little help, but she was able to find my VIN and told me there were 3 updates available - this one downloadable and 2 updates there were "dealer only" updates. Any ideas what else was introduced lately?

Here is how I fixed my frustrations downloading the update:

Tried on MAC and Windows 8 and Windows 7. All did the same thing - I was able to download the Akamai installer but nothing happened. The page never changed. Then I noticed on IE a "Some content was blocked, allow blocked content?" I clicked and walla, the rest of the download occured. And I was able to save the ISO to my flash drive.

Just in case that is where others are stuck - it blocked mixed content or something like that trying to go from one domain to the other.

Thanks for the thoughts on the other "dealer only" updates - any chances these are in the premium area too?

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

Depending on the build date, there could be a transmission flash and another (recall) for a drl problem. This is also a software flash. There is another upcoming recall, another software flash, having to do with the dash warning lights.

Your service department should be able to let you know. If you bring it in, let them know you already updated to 13.38.52, or they might accidently revert the system to an older version.

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

Installed 13.38.52 a couple of days ago, and wow. Best update yet. Response when pressing the buttons seems to have improved. SD card loads my list in a fraction of the time it used to take.

Text messaging also started working for my HTC Evo 4G LTE, and I have thousands of messages on the phone. Sends and receives.

They also changed the help function when using voice commands. When you press the button, help messages are displayed on the screen.

Definitely a step in the right direction.

I have to agree. I really like the addition of the VR phrases when you press the button on the wheel. Also larger text is easier to read.

Come on Pandora/Slacker/ apps!

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

Ok, what am I doing wrong here. I went to the uConnect website and entered my VIN. It found my Jeep and says that I qualify for an upgrade. I make the required selections and hit "Begin Update Process." The .exe installer downloads and installs, but I never have the screen that it shows to actually download the update file! I never get the option to select a folder for download. I just close the install session and nothing else happens. I've tried using Firefox, I.E., Chrome, disabling my firewall, every possible thing that I can think of.

Not mine. They downgraded mine to 13.19.0 because they thought it was the latest. The UConnect folks are sending them a disc with 13.38.52. How 90's of them.

What I found is, using IE, after installing the installer, returning to the website home and entering the data again and bringing up the screen that has the installer download on it, there is now a "Skip" button on the right side of the screen. Hitting that will allow you to start the download process.

That's what the dealership told me as well...then they told me 13.19 is the latest update for my VIN (I picked up my new 2014 GC Limited in April).

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

I have iOS 7 and the upgrade (done by dealer as an RRT to this version) broke all incoming texts that I was receiving before

I have an iPhone 5S with iOS 7 and incoming texts work. It's not the same as Android which provides past texts as well. The iPhone just works with current incoming texts.

If you haven't already, delete the pairing on UConnect and remove it from the iPhone and try again. If still doesn't work, I would unpair and delete again and then reload the latest UConnect version.

One last thing to look at first - make sure the "Show Notification" switch is on on the iPhone pairing of the device. Perhaps this got changed with the iOS 7 upgrade.

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

If you delete the device both in the vehicle and on the iPhone, then re-pair/reconnect the device, you have to give it a little while for the white "messaging" indicator on the Uconnect screen to illuminate.

I did this twice, thinking there was a problem, but then the 2nd time I started the vehicle a little bit later, the messaging indicator came on and it once again works with incoming texts only.

I have a friend with an HTC EVO that just bought an Overland. Pre-update, his phone was not supported at all. Post-update he now has incoming and outgoing text. Meanwhile....no such luck with iOS 7.

If they cannot get this addressed soon, it might actually be enough to get me to reconsider an Android smartphone next time around.
