Re: UConnect 13.38.52

I have read most of this thread (15 pages!) and I have one concern before going forward with the update. I have 2014 Limited that was Nav Ready so I imagine is the 8.4A/RA3 model. Well during negotiations I got them to add the navigation in on my Jeep. So if I go through the update do I risk losing the Nav? Or is that product key secured somewhere and will remain in tact while updating? Or am I best having my dealer do my update?

Thanks.

Yes you have the RA3 and that is the update you will perform. The NAV activation is not affected during the upgrade and is actually paired to the VIN of your vehicle. Even if you had to have the radio replaced, there is a simple process to reactivate with a new Radio as the NAV activation is paired with the VIN not the radio.

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

Just added this update to my '14 8.4A system. Bottom line, don't do it yet.

Jeep acknowledges some "glitches" with the update, but won't inform customers when they download it. Since I've added the update, Assist won't load, UConnect account isn't working and the Bluetooth is haphazard. This is what I noticed right after I updated the software; about 5 mins followed by a 20 min chat with Jeep/UConnect.

I did have the Nav turned on by the dealer a week and a half ago, it still works with no problems. Wilee is correct on the Nav being tied to VIN and not 8.4A system.

Still enjoying the Jeep!!

It has been repeated many times that after the update it can take 24 - 48 hours for everything to settle in.

I installed it almost a month ago ... Working just fine.

I wouldn't say Jeep acknowledges anything unless you see it in writing. Their phone support people are hit and miss. Some will say whatever they think will get you off the phone when they don't know the answer.

If the assist button doesn't work in a couple of days, call the phone number that comes up. There is an over the air fix they can do, but some reps will swear there is no such thing. Also, that may have nothing to do with the update.

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

UConnect account needs to be reactivated.

Bluetooth needs to be resync.

Software has been pretty bulletproof except early built SRT.... It is currently the MOST stable software available by far, not sure where you are getting your info from??

I concur..been running this sw since release with zero problems. The few issues I have are witech updates that I'll get flashed next oil change.

Well..I do have one complaint. The nav sucks overall. Works like gps circa 2001 with prettier graphics. Routes me in completely nonsensical ways and entering addresses is very painful. Enter state. Enter city. Enter road. Go back..change city bc given block is listed in a different city.

Why can't it be smart like Google, Yahoo..mapquest..Bing..and just accept an address. And, it's out of date the moment you get it..and new maps cost an arm and a leg..which are out of date when you buy them as well. very irritating. I hardly use it. For what they charge as a factory option you are better off getting a $59 knock off Android tablet, tethering it, and just using Google navigation.

C'mon Chrysler..it's 2013.. why isn't navigation back ended in the cloud? They are %90 there already with the aircard and yelp stuff..

Anyway..end of rant. Like I said, this sw build is solid!

Tonight started my vehicle by dash start button and auto on (heated wheel/seat) came on since it was 39 out but when checking settings auto on comfort showed no checkmark. Anyone else?

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

I just returned from a 400 mile round trip to visit my daughter in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and everything worked fine - nav, auto lights, auto wipers, ACC. Even Sirius seemed to sound pretty good. The only complaint I have is that I cannot tell the nav to go to a saved favorite location. Go home works, but anything else, I have to hit the favorite button and choose the one I want.

Yes, the title of this thread is the latest update for the 8.4 series radios.
