It's only happened twice on heavy tree lined rural roads, so I attributed it to poor GPS reception, but perhaps there is more to it?

The thing I've had to disable was the automatic traffic avoidance "feature". I understand the concept, but a couple of the alternate routes were going to literally increase my trip by 40 or 50 miles. I guess if it was a REALLY bad traffic issue, I could drive that distance and still come out ahead time-wise, so maybe the system has some merit, but that's a big detour. Fortunately, I was in an area that I knew enough about to realize I was going way off track. I set the traffic feature to manual. It still tells me verbally when there is a "traffic jam" ahead, but allows me to decide if I want to route around it.
Thanks for the heads up. I am going to also disable traffic avoidance. I've also had some issues with some of the boxes in the nav and guidance set up unchecking themselves. So far all my issues have just been with the navigation.

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

Update: Since I've updated (yesterday) to 13.38.52 my navigation screen has been freezing up. Did it twice today. The only way to unfreeze it is by resetting the screen. I figured out that you can hold the radio knob and tuning knob simultaneously for about 10 seconds and it will turn off the screen and restart it. Can do this while vehicle is running. If this problem continues I'll be taking it back to the dealer. Not sure what they can do if it has the latest update....Just aggravated!

Lightbulb Re: UConnect 13.38.52

Atmospheric and terrain conditions, as well as occasional glitches that just happen with the satellites, can cause some strange stuff. Several years ago, while driving north on I-81 across the Susquehanna River at Harrisburg, PA, I had three GOPS systems running... one in the dash of the Jeep, a Garmin handheld, and a DeLorme EarthMate. All three showed the Jeep off the bridge and traveling at ~1000 feet AGL above the river. An Uncle Ted moment.

Shortly afterward, all three showed me in the fields just off I-81, but then the system straightened out and all was good again. It was entertaining while it lasted.

As for the current GPS in my WK2 acting goofy (display dancing around), I think it was trying to figure out why I was not staying on (Tompkins) County Rte 182 (aka, Hanshaw Road). I was staying on Hanshaw Road, but, at the intersection of Neimi Road, County Rte 182 continues with a right turn onto Neimi Road, while Hanshaw Road continues straight ahead as a town road. However the map data is compiled and coded, it does not recognize this by the name of the road at that moment, and the display dances around for a couple of seconds.

I made a video recording of this; here is a link to the video on YouTube.

Build date is 9/13. A few members advised to re-install update. I am going to give that a try. BTW I am going to re-download it this time from Jeep Garage not the Uconnect website.

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

I have this update and have just gotten the phone needs service warning twice today. Also had gotten an email from uconnect saying I needed to activate my trial but I had already done it when I first got jeep.

For IE browser you need to disable Pop-up blocker for it to download. After unzipping there will be an .iso and a .zip file. Leave them both in the flash drive. I had no problem updating. Finally have the button to turn on and off the Mirror dimming feature!!!

you should only ever put the ISO file on the Flash Drive. leaving the ZIP on there takes up additional space and you risk the update failing.

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

After updating a second time do to my navigation errors, here's what I am experiencing. After using the navigation over the past few days it only drifted off track once. It did tell me to make some wrong turns after recalculating a from a location where it thought the vehicle was. Eventually it did get back on track but by that time if I where in a strange area I would have been totally lost.

The navigation volume doesn't stay set at the set volume level. From 20 it will change to 12 or lower. So if your relying on the voice commands it may go down to a volume level you can't even hear.

My radio is set to an XM station but when the vehicle is turned off and then re-started it winds up going to either FM or AM. It will not stay tuned to the XM station it was last set on.

Re: UConnect 13.38.52

for the NAV volume, as the lady is speaking - adjust the volume knob. its independent from the radio volume. Odd about not staying on SXM.. mine does... also, i have never had mine drift off "track"... not since ihad it replaced way back (because it showed me miles off location.. among other things)
