Interesting thought.

I'm speculating, and thinking that Magnus has additional code in the customized image that is enabled by the token. The custom and rollback images that I have, for the same rev, are different sizes. Further speculating that adding the token file to the stick carrying the factory update would be redundant.

But would be a good datapoint to know, fershure.

Re: uConnect 15.26.1 is buggy; I want to downgrade.

I called a 2nd time today and the woman I talked to said she was able to see I had done the update but that it would take a few hrs for the info to sync in their database and that could be the reason the app isn't working for me. According to both women I talked to the reason it ain't working is cause I had not done the update but the 2nd did assure me that everything looks good on their end. We will see... If not I'll be saving myself 14.99 a month soon as I cancel their ass.

- Update for AirGapping the Rat -

I built-up a terminator but won't have a chance to try it for a few more days yet.
I did order some test adapters in the meantime so I can better measure in that awkward place behind the radio.
Crossing my fingers that they'll arrive and I can resume over the weekend.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, given that the FCA system interacts with your Jeep uConnect radio datalink and can remotely start the vehicle via a smartphone app, etc. Is it really inconceivable that this system that "securely" interfaces with Chrysler and reports your current GPS position, controls various vehicle settings, etc, couldn't possibly also report the installed uConnect firmware version number as well?

I did the update almost three weeks ago, and it shows as needed to be done on the Jeep's Owner's Center when I log in, so I guess it's possible for them not to know.

It's certainly a possibility. It's also possible that their customer service reps have access to different databases/data than the ownerconnect customer site.

I wonder what the thin coax cable, with blue connector, is for? It is just laying unconnected, behind the radio. Looks like the same type of connector.

Pretty sure it is the Nav GPS antenna connection. Think that's part of the dealer "activation" of your nav for the exorbitant fee....that and a checked box on a 8.4 setup screen and next thing they ask for is a lien on your vehicle to pay for it!

Just posted a photo of the connector, in my previous post.

I do have the GPS Nav on my 8.4, and it has always worked fine. Not sure if there is some other GPS Nav option, that would be subscription, as I have never heard of it. Why does my factory Nav system work, if that is the GPS antenna? Just asking...

2 different groups that dont talk to each other and interact. In fact the "normal FCA" with contact info listed at moparownerconnect.com will scold you if you try to chat with them about uconnect that they are not uconnect even though the remote start function is a button on their stupid website.

also drive dodge smartphone app appears to be connected to yet another unrelated database. My drive dodge app says nothing about my durango needing a recall despite moparownerconnect.com telling me it is needed. What's more is MOC has my the 3 FCA vehicles I have at the moment. But Drive Dodge app only lists my Durango yet complains that i have a recall on a 4th vehicle which was a Chrysler minivan leased for my wife years back.

Uconnect being hacked is just the tip of the incompetent spear in the IT group at FCA.

NHTSA (https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/) also doesn't know I did the update. Lots of folks who should know, don't.
