is there a guide on how to get all of my contacts into the system for blue tooth? the manual is pretty lacking. is it possible to have your numbers on the touch screen rather then have to say them? what if someone has a 3 different numbers?

I may be wrong but when I pair up my Blackberry to the 430N all of my contacts in the BB are in the 430N without me doing anything. If I want to call my wife for example and I speak "Call Terry" it will ask me which number I want to use. Home, work or mobile. I am happy with the way my Blackberry works with the system.

Of course I am not sure about other phones.

bozer, you will not be punching any numbers into a virtual onscreen keypad because there is none on the 430n. That would not be a convenience upgrade over just dialing on your phone, IMO. And FWIW, you CAN still dial from your phone when it's hooked up via Bluetooth if you prefer.

At any rate, the integration is very seamless in my experience with an iPhone4. I'm not sure where the phonebook goes or if the 430n just accesses it as needed via BT.

Re your concern about contacts who have multiple numbers. This was fully anticipated by the designers. Let's say you want to call your wife and she's got multiples numbers. Just say: "Call SugarBooger, mobile". Or you can say: "Call SugarBooger, spa" or "Call SugarBooger, tennis pro's house". The system will say it back to you for confirmation then put the call through. It will play off of the tags you've assigned to her numbers in your address book. It is very intuitive and the VR is pretty good most of the time. I've been very happy with it and folks I call say the sound quality is excellent on their end.

Ok I'll give it a try today. I think I just need to repair my phone with the system. On my Lexus you could import and then have speed dial buttons to touch on the screen which was very easy to do and you wouldnt need to look down and press numbers on the phone. Will take some getting used to using voice inpput as voice input sucked on my lexus.

I predict that your learning curve will be very flat. Also, you might take advantage of the Help feature that learns your voice as it asks you to repeat a number of common prompts.

Does anyone know what version of AVRCP the 430n supports, 1.2 or 1.4? I cant find it anywhere.

Last night I formatted a 500GB hard drive as Fat 32. I loaded up about 30 GBS of music, plugged it into the main port this morning and it worked great. The sound quality is way better then when I play my iPhone 4 over bluetooth or plugged in

Hey Bozer,

Does that HD work if you plug it into the USB port in the upper part of the arm rest?

A little off topic but it concerns the 430N...when are we going to get an update for Travel Link to become active? It is on the build sheet...one year free service.

Glad it's working for you and others. It is a pretty slick trick.

However, in all fairness, I have to give credit to the guy who showed it to me. He is a sales guy at one of my local dealers. For all the (well-deserved) grief we heap on these guys, it's only right to recognize the few who have spent some time learning the product. This guy was really good. He had a lot of great stories from the driving event held at FedEx Field for the DC-area dealers. He used the stringing technique when pairing my phone.
