Put up child proof fences along school zones, let the cars do their thing and remove another stupid speed restriction.

Mate, I live near a huge stretch of school zone and have to leave home early just to avoid them even if it means getting to an appointment super early. I only see kids for about 20 mins or less of the entire school zone period meanwhile we're peddling along at 40 kph eyeballing our speedometer more than the actual road. They make it seem as though some kid is going to all of a sudden jump into the road and make a run for it.

I agree with sensible driving anywhere, especially schools, but not making and basing rules on the lowest common denominator (dumbass) factor which is just moronic and probably why we have such 'precious' kids. When I was a kid if you got hit by a car because you walked into the street without looking or thinking, you were a dumbass not a victim.

I say make the school zone period coincide with the ACTUAL stop and start of school and dress the kids in fluoro vests. If it's good enough for the tradies, it should be good enough for the kids. Their safety is worth the extra bit of caution, isn't it?

Re: UConnect 8.4 International / Export

Ok im not too tech savy here, but to copy songs from a usb device to the hard drive does this mean straight from a usb stick or does it need to be an ipod type product. Ive tried and tried with just a usb stick to no avail got the copy from a cd all sorted. 2012 overland. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

You probably want to ask that question in a relevant thread, not one about MY14+ 8.4" systems.

TOTALLY disagree. When crossing a street, even though a kid is looking out for cars, judgement for safe distance is awfully compromised as the kid's brain is not fully developed. U r correct 2 say that some kid is going to all of a sudden jump into the road and make a run for it. One car accident is too many.

Re: UConnect 8.4 International / Export

Forum police???? So you would prefer to sit and wonder why no one has responded to your ill placed question than be given the tip you had asked in the wrong place?
Now you don't wish to help yourself by taking a minute or two to see what is blatantly obvious, you just want to cry victim and have it served to you on a platter.

All that aside, have you read your owners manual? I don't know what your system has, because
A: as a MY14 owner I am only familiar with the system this thread is about
B: You haven't specified what your system is.
Looking at a 2012 Uconnect owners manual, it states very clearly what is required.

Re: UConnect 8.4 International / Export

Actually quite reminiscent of the power wire under the seat question. How did it go again?

Now if smart quips were not your specialty, I might even think you were getting slightly hard done by. However that is definitely not the case.

Cheers,

Re: UConnect 8.4 International / Export

Hi peeps,

I've just finished crawling through this thread hoping to find an answer, but I don't think I saw it.

My question is how do we get traffic updates and alerts on our MY14 JGC's? My partners Corolla indicates heavy traffic, and alerts on the map. I have to admit I'm a little jealous.

Let me know if I'm not doing something obvious to activate it... thanks!

Re: UConnect 8.4 International / Export

As far as I'm aware it only acts to re-route you if navigation to a destination is active. Nothing pops up on screen as a matter of course... not here in WA anyway.

Cheers,
Steve
