Re: UConnect 8.4 - North America

The U.S. version of 14.05.03 is now available on the Uconnect update site. There is also a new tsb available.

Re: UConnect 8.4 - North America

Today my backup camera stated jumping like it never did before. It was so bad I had to revert to that old fashioned rear view mirror. This might get better in a few days.

It was 66 degrees out today according to my Jeep. With the auto climate control set to sixty eight it was pumping out lots of cold air. I guess summer is coming.

Sure wish they had fixed the Shuffle setting that they screwed up with the last update.

Oh, they did take care of the problem with sand mode not raising the Jeep to OR-1. They removed that feature from version 7 of the owners manual. So now when they say it's normal, they are telling the truth. At least through version 5 the feature was included.

None of these little quirks make me want to ditch the Jeep. But I'm starting to have second thoughts about a Jeep as my next vehicle. Not that the Jeep is bad, but somewhere in the organization they have a screw loose.

This update fixed the Shuffle issue for me. It now survives off/on cycles.

Re: UConnect 8.4 - North America

Don't know if this matters, probably not but with software updating one never knows.

I just noticed that the instructions that come with this update through the Uconnect download site state "DO NOT START the engine" and "the engine should not be running", whereas, the TSB directions for this update state "With the engine running....". Don't confuse this with the ignition on/off/run parts of the directions.

I did my update using the TSB directions and the Shuffle is fixed. I have not yet verified other items as I have not had many, if any, that I can tell.

Again, probably a waste of time, but for those who performed this update using the Uconnect download site directions (engine not running) I wonder if the results might be different using the TSB directions (engine running)? I know you all still received the final 14.05.03/14.05.03 Screen and so you pressed NO but that does not necessarily mean each and every code change took effect.

I have attached both sets of instructions.

Might be worth another 10 mins of tinkering. Let us know if it changes anything like the shaky camera, shuffle, etc..

I have done it both ways (engine off/running), depending on situation. Made no difference either way.

After update, rear cam still jittery. Oh well. Still very usable anyway.

I just thought that since we are talking software here it was worth a shot versus waiting for the next update.

I am expecting more, "ya, right" and "no difference" but am hoping for a "holy chit, there is a difference."
Maybe you should try loading it both ways, and check all the unit functions for differences. You can post your results here.

The only difference between running and key on is system voltage. As long as voltage remains above 11V, the update should be successful.
Whether all your issues are addressed, that is another matter.
