Well I have a 2015 GC and I'm looking for a 2015 RA4 unit so I shouldn't have an issue with compatibility.

Yes I guess the part number for the 2015 RA4 part number with uconnect and sirius etc.

Post both anyway or PM them to me as to not confuse anyone. Or is there a way for me to look it up myself?

Probably a dumb question, but if we have ordered a car with the RA4 radio and the order is still in the "pre-release" status, is there any question about what radio will be in it when it is finally built?

Here are the relevant part number for you. This is for [RSD] and [RS7] which lists as Sirius XM radio and Uconnect Access. Now, you may want to check with your parts supplier, as these codes may be for the SUBSCRIPTION status -- I'm not sure from this end.

[X81], [RA4], [RSD], [RS7]68238619AC

If those codes are for the subscription activation and not actual differences in the radio, your other relevant number is:

X81], [RA4]68238625AE

Be aware...this is NOT cheap. It lists at $1995. Also note that the "AC" or "AE" suffix may change at any time -- that's a simple revision that can mean many things (including a change to how it's packaged) but in general when ordering the part you'll get the latest due to supersedence.

Thanks Peter, this will help me a lot.

I have a supplier who takes units out of cars that are sold from US dealer lots to overseas and he swaps the units for them and sells the US units for 1/3 price if you give him your old unit as a core exchange. So it ends up costing about 749 shipped for the swap.

are you allowed to post a link?

I'd love to know where to go if it turns out the '15 is a big improvement over and drop in replacement for the '14

Well i have a 2015 right now (RA3 though) and I don't see any difference at all in anything. It must have just been a hardware change internally but functionally it's the same as the 2014. It hasn't crashed at all so I guess that's a good thing I will pm you.

UConnect 8.4 - North America

I'm sure many of the first diesel buyers are now having their SiriusXM one year trial expiring soon. I got my letter in the mail a couple days ago. The one year trial was for the All Access, which is $199/yr +taxes/fees, total coming to $234/yr. Too much for me, given that all I mostly do is listen to the news, although I do sometimes listen on my smartphone as well which is a nice feature. You can get just the basic radio service for $165/yr + taxes/fees without the other goodies (traffic, weather, on your mobile device, etc).

I told them that when I used to have XM on another device it was only about $8/mth. They came back and offered me the All Access for $119/yr + taxes/fees for a total of $141/yr. That's almost $100 savings. I decided to go ahead and do that. $10/mth for All Access is a pretty good deal. fyi, when you give them your credit card number they advise you that it will automatically renew next time unless you call to cancel, and at the higher normal price. So you might be able to go through this exercise again in another year and threaten to cancel if they don't keep the rate the same.

Bottom line, they'd rather get something from you than nothing, so it pays to negotiate.

I will refrain from making comments on dealing with SiriusXM. As everybody knows by now YMMV when it comes to dealing with them. Anyway, here is a way to save a little money when renewing your SiriusXM service and at the same time avoiding giving them your credit card number.

Since updates go by VIN, and since '14 and '15 have a different update path, would that not cause an issue when trying to get an update?

By VIN is only for checking on the Uconnect site. All you have to do is snag a VIN from an inventory search online that is entitled and u r set. Or, become a premium member here and download at will.

I am NOT AN EXPERT- but i think that not only updates go by vin but also the radio needs to be programmed with you vin at the dealer for it to work correctly. So I was guessing they (the dealer i'd have to pay to update the vin) would update uconnect/s database (or if i made a bajillion calls to uconnect i could resolve it- lol).

Anywho- there's not really a big deal now, I'm just trying to be prepared if in 6 months or a year the 2015 version gets some super deluxe game changing update i can get my hands on one. But the more i read and think about it I'm not too worried that's going to happen- mostly becasue i haven't seen anywhere saying "WOW it now comes with 4G"- if they didn't bother with that then it still is 'yesterdays' technology anyway.

Re: UConnect 8.4 - North America

Just wondering when/if the NAV/GPS map updates come out. Are they done annually? Do we get some kind of notification when new ones are available? Is it a dealer installed thing or can you download it yourself?
Thx
