Uconnect app fails

Anybody else having this problem? Have a 2015 Overland driven yesterday open to complete sky and app doesn't start, stop, horn, lock, unlock, nothing. Just says function failed after a few minutes of what seems trying to connect and then sends me an email to this effect as well. Is it just me or is this just a shitty app ? Might be I'm not in a 3G area. Very possible as I'm in a rural area currently. But really, they need to update this next year to LTE already....

Re: Uconnect app fails

It's just a crappy system. My Jeep shows full 3G service, I have full service on my cell phone, and it always times out/fails. I have only sent "safe" commands like LOCK in playing around because I have heard of the command finally being received by the vehicle hours later.

Re: Uconnect app fails

Uconnect is garbage. Now, if they get the " send directions to navigation " in working condition, I would install it. Google a place and beam it to the nav system!

Re: Uconnect app fails

My app did the same thing right after the anti-hacker update. I called Uconnect customer care, created a ticket and was told I would receive a return call after 3 days. Needless to say, they never called. So I ended up downgrading my radio to an earlier version I had saved and then reinstalled the latest update. All my data was wiped and my NAV had to re-calibrate, but now the app processes requests in 60 seconds on average. Now whether or not it was Uconnect's tech support or my own support that fixed this issue, I guess I'll never know.

Re: Uconnect app fails

Mine works. I may get an error at times but i assume it times out due to poor internet connection. What doesn't work at all for me is whenever i try to use pandora through the headunit. Keeps telling me i need to open the app through my iphone which it is and nothing. What a piece of crap.

ps. Just unlocked and locked via the app with no issues.

****Edit****
After I posted this and left work, the Uconnect app automatically turned on on my iPhone as it always does and instead of switching it off like I always do I tried connecting to Pandora via the head unit and it worked!!! Wow, I'm happy that Uconnect finally got something right. So maybe that's the thing, once ur phone automatically connects to the head unit it triggers the app to enable thinking that I will be using it.

Re: Uconnect app fails

Was finally able to get UConnect to work. The initial connection seemed to take about 45 seconds but then it was like I was using the key fob rather than my phone--I could hit lock and unlock and lock and it all occurred within less than a second.

i don't think they ever said it would work with any quality third party apps. I'm guessing they'll just allow you to search some crappy database in their crappy smart phone app and use that and only that to send an address to the car.

In a dream scenario they'd allow you to "share" a destination from google/waze/some other third party app but i wouldn't hold my breath...

EDIT: and the phone crappy database might even bee the years old map database they install in the vehicles....

the delay is not the internet- it's always their poor software and infrastructure.

basically the entire system and all it's sub systems (bluetooth, nva, apps, etc) has to load and THEN the remote control app loads. So if the radio is off and you send it the command it receives the text or whatever it is that wakes up the unit and boots and then 45 seconds (like clockwork) it will do the command. At that point once it is awake the smartphone app will work in basically real time- lock unlock the doors at will for example.

wellllllll, at least that was before the hacking episode and their "fixes", now the 45 second thing is no longer a given, in fact reaching the vehicle is no longer a given. Since the modem worked perfectly in my vehicle for the better part of the year it seems they added some steps in their infrastructure to connect the smartphone app to the cellular message sending part of the system that has added time and made things much less reliable- for me at least. There was one day when i think it took like 7 minutes or something to get the lock to work.

before the hack- someone met some of the engineers at CES and they mentioned trying to tweak things to move the boot sequence so the 45 seconds was cut down- but IIRCC they said it was still going to be a sizable number of seconds. That was before the hack though and it seems now they can't even keep the current system reliable for all of us- so i dont see any effort being wasted on improvements when they just need to make things stable now. (my humble opinion of course)

Re: Uconnect app fails

Activated the "advantage package" a few days ago. It worked, but by the time I sent the remote request, I could have prepared and eaten dinner before the command went through. Have great cellular signal here so that's not a concern. As an above member stated, it is a software grenade. Also, for new subscribers, be careful, I was charged multiple times for a yearly subscription. Grated, I was on the phone with Uconnect the moment I saw the charges appear, and they DID remove them without question. Took a few days to get the refund processed, but that left a pretty bad taste here.
